Barbell Deadlift - Masterclassโ

WHAT ARE THE KEY BENEFITS?โ

๐Ÿ”น Improves power and strength.โ 
๐Ÿ”น Strengthens the posterior chain.โ 
๐Ÿ”น Increases strength in the back muscles, glutes and hamstrings.โ

HOW TO PERFORM A BARBELL DEADLIFT:โ 
-โ 
๐Ÿ”บ Stand with your mid-foot under the barbellโ 
๐Ÿ”บ Keep your back straight throughout the exerciseโ 
๐Ÿ”บ Grab the bar by moving your hips back while bending your legsโ 
๐Ÿ”บ Take a big breath, hold it, and stand up with the weight, keeping a straight back, breathing out at the top half of the movementโ 
๐Ÿ”บ Hold the weight for a second at the top, with locked hips and knees. Then return the weight to the floor by moving your hips back while bending your legs. Rest a second at the bottom and repeat.โ 
๐Ÿ”บ Your lower back must stay neutral to avoid injury. Rounding it during heavy Deadlifts is dangerous for your spine. It puts uneven pressure on your spinal discs which can injure them. Always Deadlift with a neutral lower back โ€“ maintain the natural inward curve of your lower spine.โ

BARBELL DEADLIFT TIPS:โ 
-โ 
๐Ÿ”ธ Hand Position:โ 
Place your thumbs against the outer part of your thigh, and run both hands down until they touch the bar, this is your ideal hand position.โ 
๐Ÿ”ธ Grip:โ 
As for your grip, you have two choices: a double overhand grip or a mixed grip, where one hand grips the bar overhand and the other underhand. The mixed grip will allow you to lift heavier, but make sure you switch hands regularly to prevent developing any muscular imbalances. At heavier weights, the double overhand grip will be harder on the forearms muscles and will challenge your grip strength, which could impact your ability to keep good form throughout the movement, a pair of lifting straps will help combat this issue.โ 
๐Ÿ”ธ Head Position:โ 
Keep your head in a neutral position throughout the lift. This is achieved by looking forwards with your eyes fixed to a spot on the ground about two to three metres ahead of your feet. And focus on keeping your chin up to keep your head in the best position for lifting.
