I’m Gareth, the founder of Waypoint Outdoor Leadership, and I specialize in working with the kids that others find "difficult."

What makes Waypoint different?
I hold a Higher Education Certificate in Youth Justice. This means I don't just lead outdoor trips; I deliver interventions.

Working across Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent, I help schools re-engage students at risk of exclusion by teaching:

🔹 Grit & Confidence: Mastering navigation and leadership in the wild.

I provide fully compliant, safe, and professionally led sessions that actually make a difference back in the classroom.

Many schools are currently facing increasing challenges around pupil engagement, behaviour and motivation.

Waypoint Outdoor Leadership is now offering a structured 4-week Behaviour & Engagement Intervention Programme designed for small cohorts of secondary pupils who would benefit from a different learning environment to rebuild confidence, responsibility and decision-making skills.

Through a professionally managed outdoor leadership framework, pupils develop:

• Personal accountability
• Communication and teamwork
• Leadership confidence
• Risk awareness and judgement
• Resilience through structured challenge

The programme runs one day per week over four weeks, culminating in a supervised expedition day where learners apply the skills they have developed.

Schools receive a full impact report and individual learner summaries, supporting behaviour monitoring and Pupil Premium evidence.

Hi, I’m Gareth — founder of Waypoint Outdoor Leadership.

I started this company with a clear goal:

To help young people build confidence, resilience and responsibility through structured outdoor education.

I’ve seen first-hand how powerful navigation, leadership and managed risk experiences can be in changing how young people see themselves. When they’re given real responsibility, real decisions and real challenge — something shifts.

Waypoint Outdoor Leadership exists to:

• Develop practical leadership skills
