I had the pleasure of teaching another studio owner yesterday.

By the time I got home from teaching a message had pinged into my inbox....

"Thanks for welcoming me Emma I really truly enjoyed it. It’s so refreshing to go to a quality class and felt like a great sesssion. ❤️ "

This teacher worked super hard and and was such a joy to teach.

She then went on to send me the above words in the picture.

It was so heart warming that she chose to share her thoughts with me about the session, as I know how hard it can be to find a studio or teacher that you feel truly comfortable with at times. Plus finding the time for self practice is a challenge too!

I can't wait to welcome her back for a regular practice very soon.

AVAILABILITY AFTER HALF TERM

Want to give Pilates matwork a go?

Maybe you have tried the reformer and now want to experience how it translates to the matwork (just you and your body weight)

Maybe you just want to move your body in a different way to how you already exercise. (My sessions move your body in all directions where suitable - mobilising and movement with strength, precision, coordination and flow)

Or you would like to see how different teachers approach the Pilates method (I honour the original repertoire and principles but with a contemporary practice and aim to follow the science!)

I have a few spaces becoming available after half-term in my Foundational sessions.

These are suitable for beginners or if you have practiced Pilates before and wish to return. They are a mindful, full body practice where you are encouraged to listen to your body and understand its needs. Offering challenges where appropriate and alternative options if needed.

Participants must be largely injury free.

Introducing.......

The Ladder Barrel

Most clients have had a little taster of this great piece of equipment this week so far during their sessions doing some of the above exercises amongst others.

You may come to the studio because you heard of the reformer ........

But you stay for everything else 😊

The studio now has Reformer (×2), cadillac, tower, wunda chair, spine corrector, arc, ladder barrel and smaller equipment such as the magic circle, toe gizmo, and . Also not forgetting the matwork.

Where you can enjoy the studio all to yourself (use of all equipment) or share it with a friend and experience a duet (Reformer, tower/cadi and matwork plus small equipment)

Using the ball to help find connections, add a challenge and as a visual and feedback aid - what is not to love?

Want to explore the Pilates matwork?

At Nourish Pilates I aim to honour the classical work but at times add a contemporary twist.

You will enjoy exercises such as The 100, single leg stretch, double leg stretch, spine twist, saw, spine stretch, swan, rolling like a ball, teaser, single straight leg stretch, The press-up and seal (to name but a few!)

We also squat, lunge, work on the vestibular system, and have the odd stretch and mobilisation at times.

What you won't get is a gentle stretch class (if that is what you are after my group classes may not be the right places for you - BUT you will ❤️ my Flow & Glow sessions).

You also won't get a leg, bums and bums style class.

You WILL have fun, get stronger, make some great friends if you wish, create space in your body and mind and hopefully become addicted to Pilates.

Class sizes are limited, and a foundational class is a great place to start.

Tuesday's 5.45 and 8.15pm

Wednesdays 5.15pm

Fridays 11.15am

Pilates DEFINITELY has the feel good factor.

The beauty of the studio and private sessions is that they are tailored to your needs, energy levels and goals. And that can change from one week to the next.

We have all had days when you feel totally amazing and others where you have less energy or just feel blah.

This lovely client came in this week more on the blah side than the energetic side.

I tailored her session accordingly and she reaped the benefits 🥰

Qualified for another 3 years in first aid - hope I never have to use it, but being armed with the ability to help if needed is vital when you want to look after your clients in everyway you can.

Or even a friend, family member or stranger in need.

Nothing comes easily.

Want to get better at something?

Practice....be consistent, whether it is weekly, 3 x a week or daily.

Strength just doesn't appear.

If you haven't exercised in a while your body isn't going to change overnight.

Strength takes time. It takes progressive loading in a way your body can adapt and stay healthy whilst doing so.

Mobility takes time. Start with what you have and take it from there.

Flexibility - no point being flexible if you don't have the strength to support it.

Your body is an eco-system. The whole things works together. If your nervous system is struggling in someway, you may need to work on that too to enable you to achieve the best results (Pilates can help calm your mind and body too!)

When I first started Pilates on the equipment Hanging Back (above) was one of my goals as it looked so much fun!!

And it is fun.

And I love it.

And I love it when I get to teach it as it is so empowering to my clients!

Now I have new goals and I can't wait to achieve those too.....at nearly 50 I am carrying on the way I always have......have a goal. Have fun working towards it. If I don't achieve it I have still had fun trying, i will get stronger trying.......win win!
