Hi there, I'm Ally! 🥰

I've been in the fitness industry for just over 3 years. It's a second career for me. Originally an Elementary School teacher from the States.

How did I end up here? Well, it's a long story. But here are the highlights. In 2019, I was depressed, overweight, felt stuck in my career, with a partner who didn't care, and I ate my feelings. At just over 220 lbs (100 kgs), I decided I needed to make a change. So I started lifting weights and that changed everything for me. 

My mindset shifted and I had the confidence to leave everything behind to start over. I took back control of my life and it felt amazing. I fell IN LOVE with fitness and I just knew I had to keep doing it for the rest of my life. 🏋🏼‍♀️

Fast forward a few years and now I've moved to England, become a certified PT and fitness instructor, and I teach other people how to be confident in the gym, lose fat, and gain muscle.

My specialities are:

Half Turkish Get Up to Push up is a compound exercise that incorporates muscles in the shoulder, chest, core, and triceps. The exercise starts from the ground with a weight in one hand at the shoulder and the same side's knee bent. The opposite arm should be straight out on the mat. Push the weight towards the ceiling and raise that shoulders off the ground. That's the Half Turkish Get-up. From here, push your hips up, bring the weight back to your shoulder, rotate your torso (so you're facing the mat), and place the weight onto the mat with your hand still wrapped around it. Do a push up/press up, row the weight back into your chest, rotate back the other way, and bend that knee to lay back down in the starting position.

Fitness is in my blood. I grew up watching my dad pour his heart into this industry—building not just strong bodies, but strong friendships & communities. Following in his footsteps wasn’t just a career choice; it was meant to be.

For the past 23 years, I’ve dedicated myself to Gym & Tonic, helping people of Stafford & beyond move better, feel stronger, and reconnect with their bodies in ways that are empowering and sustainable. My approach blends technical knowledge with emotional intelligence—because fitness isn’t just physical. It’s personal.

Hi, I'm Amanda, founder of Somatically Empowered.

I'm a trauma-informed somatic coach and hypnotherapist specialising in narcissistic abuse recovery.

Trauma isn't just something we remember in our minds—it is something our bodies carry. When we experience chronic stress, abuse, or trauma, the nervous system can become stuck in survival mode, leading to anxiety, overwhelm, shutdown, people-pleasing, and emotional exhaustion.

Through gentle breathwork, movement, somatic practices, and hypnotherapy, we can begin to safely reconnect with the body, regulate the nervous system, and release stored survival responses.

Healing doesn't come from forcing yourself to move on. It comes from creating safety within your body so healing can naturally unfold.
