At the moment, several clients across the Carb Nation team are dealing with significant personal challenges.

Our focus is on supporting them with empathy, flexibility, and respect for what they’re navigating outside of the training environment.

If you’re going through something too, you’re not alone.... and kindness (to yourself and others) goes a long way.

As coaches, we may not see / know everything...while our role is often to push boundaries, gentle communication helps us create a training environment that feels safe and supportive, whatever you’re going through.

Yikes stop the bus, we’re getting off 😵‍💫

In recent days we’ve seen another rapid weight loss method clawing at the UK news headlines. The medication isn’t the problem, but the culture surrounding it is deeply concerning.

In the rush to lose weight, let’s not lose sight of what truly matters: strength, mental clarity & wellness, body function, health and longevity.

I can’t help but feel we’re somewhat going backwards in the health & wellbeing world? Skinny is trending (again), influencers are announcing their “weight loss journey” through GLP-1s & warped perceptions on a “healthy body” are creeping back in on social media…

Rapid weight loss may be trending…but so is: sarcopenia, osteoporosis, eating disorder mortality rates, frailty in later life & a mental health epidemic…

Strength & wellbeing deserve to be part of the conversation too. A smaller dress size isn’t automatically a healthier body. I fear we’re (yet again) loosing sight of what a “normal” healthy body looks like….thoughts? 😵‍💫💭

Coaches weekend roundup ⤴️ - you can’t say we don’t pack things in on our days off 😉

Huge shoutout to Coach James who took on yet another 100km Ultra Walk this weekend, this time in the Lake District. A super impressive 29 hours 22 mins just 5 weeks post IOW.

Meanwhile, Coach Bethany sprung up to Scotland after a manic Friday on the gym floor to soak up some amazing views & fresh air 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 her weekend highlight was definitely road tripping through Glen Etive - a single track 12 mile dead end road through the highlands, finishing off with a sauna & loch dip 🧘🏼‍♀️💧⛰️🚙

It’s amazing what you can squeeze into a weekend right?! 🤣💪🏼👀

A bit of a “told you so” moment from us 😉

While cardio has long been in the spotlight for it’s health benefits, new research highlighted in the media yesterday suggests strength training deserves equal attention 👀

Researchers from the British Journal of Sports Medicine looked at data across 3 studies involving 147,374 men & women over 30 years. Their findings suggest regular ✨resistance✨ training can significantly reduce the risk of early death (eg: heart disease, neurological disease & strokes to name a few.)

The biggest benefits? Researchers found the lowest risks among people combining strength training with aerobic exercise.

Did you know? 1 in 4 women consider leaving work due to menopause symptoms 😳 adding exercise into the mix can feel extremely overwhelming.

I may not experience menopause personally, but as a male coach with a vast 1:1 female client base, it’s my responsibility to understand it better so I can support female clients through every stage.

Where possible, open communication allows us to plan, adapt, and support to the best of our ability 🩵
