‎Tiko Grassroot Football Tournament: Weekend Match Report

‎The Tiko Grassroot Football Tournament continued its exciting run this past weekend, with the youth categories taking center stage at two of the town's most iconic venues. From tactical defensive displays at the G.S Ndongo Camp field to the intense atmosphere at the Tiko Town Green Hall field, the local talent was on full display.

‎Saturday, March 14th | U13 Category (G.S Ndongo Camp Field)

‎The Saturday session belonged to the U13 division, where several matches were decided by the narrowest of margins, highlighting the competitive spirit of these young athletes.

‎1)Likomba Lions 1 - 0 Ekona Youths: The Lions secured a hard-fought victory, finding the net once and holding firm against a resilient Ekona side.

‎2)LLEFCEN 1 - 0 EEMSA: In a mirror image of the opener, LLEFCEN displayed disciplined football to claim all three points with a clean sheet.

‎3)Akiriba SA 1 - 1 Brave Youths: This encounter was a see-saw battle that ended in a fair stalemate, with both teams showing great character to claw back a point.

‎4)New Stars 1 - 1 LESA: The trend of tactical draws continued as New Stars and LESA cancelled each other out in a high-energy match.

‎5)Lions Academy 2 - 1 Ajax: The highest-scoring game of the day saw Lions Academy edge out Ajax in a thriller, proving their clinical edge in front of goal.

‎Sunday, March 15th | U15 Category (Tiko Town Green Hall Field)

‎The action shifted to the U15 category on Sunday, where the physical and technical demands of the game were noticeably higher.

‎1)New Stars 1 - 1 Ekona Youths: In a gritty performance, both sides walked away with a point after a 1-1 draw. For New Stars, it was a display of consistency following their Saturday result in the lower bracket.

‎2)Akiriba vs. Afric Midi: Unfortunately, the scheduled clash saw Akiriba absent. Afric Midi was present and ready for the whistle, which usually results in a walkover victory under tournament regulations.

‎The weekend results show just how tight the competition is becoming as the tournament progresses. Every point earned—or lost—will be vital for the final standings in both the U13 and U15 categories.

‎Stay tuned for the next playing days and don't miss the excitement.
