🏉 International Call-Up for St Andrews Student!

We’re delighted to share that University of St Andrews Rugby Football Club Scholar Oliver Finlayson-Russell has been selected in the Scotland U20s squad for the Junior World Championship this summer! 👏

The squad will travel to Kutaisi, Georgia, where they’ll take on a strong pool stage featuring Italy, New Zealand and Japan, before competing in further fixtures to determine the final standings.

Fantastic to see University of St Andrews Director of Netball, Sally Sandison, supporting the next generation of talent at the London Pulse Player Development Programme tournament in London this weekend 👏

Sally is part of the coaching team working with Strathallan School x London Pulse Academy, alongside Louisa Jayne Walker (Director of Netball, Strathallan) and Chrystal Matthan (Netball Coach, Strathallan).

Her involvement reflects the University of St Andrews’ continued commitment to supporting high-performance pathways and fostering excellence in women’s sport, not only within the University but across the wider netball landscape.

The squads form part of the pioneering Strathallan x London Pulse Academy, launched in May 2025, Scotland’s first partnership of its kind for players aged 14–18. The programme offers:
🏐A professional, high-performance training environment
🏐Weekly sessions aligned to the London Pulse curriculum
🏐Strength & conditioning support
🏐Competitive opportunities, including the London Pulse PDP tournament

With London Pulse competing in the UK’s Netball Super League, this collaboration provides a vital bridge between grassroots, school, and elite performance environments.

Great to see St Andrews expertise contributing to such a forward-thinking initiative and helping to shape the future of the game 🔴⚫️
