Information for Freshers/ Upcoming Events

Welcome first years! Congratulations on choosing St Andrews! If you’re interested in playing Ultimate at the university, and want to know how to get involved when you arrive, we have everything you need to know right here. If you plan on arriving before Freshers Week, consider joining us for Preseason from the 29th of August to the 2nd of September. It’ll be a week of skill development and team bonding; a great way to kick off your year. Even if you’re a complete beginner, you are more than welcome to participate. Preseason is an excellent way to learn the sport and get some coaching before weekly practices begin. If you’re arriving during Freshers Week, make sure to stop by the Saints Ultimate booth at the Freshers/Sports Fayre on the 5th and 6th of September anytime from 1-5pm. We'll be there to answer any questions you may have about the sport/team and make sure you have all the information you need to get involved in training and socials. Finally, we’ll be hosting a couple of Give-it-a-Go sessions (5-7pm on the 6th and 2-4pm on the 7th). Anyone, regardless of experience, can come and try out the sport/ play some Ultimate with the team in a super friendly, laid-back setting. We hope to see you at these events, but if you cannot attend any, you can still get involved after Freshers Week. Just message us here, or on our IG page (), and we can let you know what to do. UNIVERSITY MEN AND WOMEN’S OUTDOOR NATIONALS 2022! It's been an absolutely incredible weekend for Saints Ultimate; all teams have been tirelessly working towards this tournament– and it paid off. WOMEN 1S PLACED 2ND IN DIVISION 1 SECURING THE SILVER AND MEN 1S PLACED 3RD WINNING BRONZE! What an accomplishment. Truly phenomenal performances and spirit from all teams and each player– Our men and women 2s teams put up a valiant fight in all their matches both winning 1 of their games respectively. This month, we will be joining the Move for Movember campaign which involves our members running/walking 60km over the course of the month for the 60 men we lose to su***de every hour. Additionally, our Men’s team will be trying their best to grow moustaches over the course of the month 🥸 Please check out the link below to donate anything you can to this very important cause! We have been challenged by University of Stirling Ultimate Frisbee Team to race in honour of the 97% of women who have experienced sexual harassment.

So far this month, our members have been attempting to run/ walk 97km or cycle 291km as quickly as possible to raise money for Safeline. Although the challenge has now been won, we have decided to continue until we collectively reach 970km as a club over the course of the month.

The time has come! The St. Andrews Ultimate Frisbee team will be growing their moustaches in aid of Movember! For one month we will be sacrificing our limited good looks for men across the UK.

Movember is a charity that raises money for men's health. Donations are spent in research and treatment of testicular and prostate cancer, as well as supporting those with mental health issues and those dealing with su***de.

Beatrice Bowlby, our current Wellbeing officer, is taking part in the following fundraiser. Please have a read and donate as much as you can. It is all for a great cause!

“The women's ultimate team I am a part of, SCRAM, is four days into the UK + Ireland Ultimate BLM Fundraising Challenge started by Deep Space Ultimate. This challenge was created to raise awareness of the lack of diversity in ultimate as well as actively work against racial injustice in the UK and Ireland. The Ultimate community has the resources to amplify and support the work of the BLM Movement, and that is what we intend to do. SCRAM denounce systematic racism and stand with the BLM Movement.
Breonna Taylor was fatally shot in her home by officers of the Louisville Metro Police Department on March 13th of this year. She was 26 years old. Breonna's story has been heard around the world; we must continue to say her name and remember the lives that are driving our efforts to raise this money. We pledge to run, cycle and walk 6,141km, the distance between Edinburgh and Breonna’s hometown in Kentucky, to raise money for Sporting Equals. This organization strives to raise awareness for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities in relation to their participation in and access to sports. This organization also has contact with policy makers which allows them to amplify the needs of under-represented Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities in the UK.

Our women's team had one of their most successful seasons this year. The first team became Scottish champions and placed 6th at nationals. The second team picked up the bronze medal in division 2 and our third team was only of one two universities to qualify for nationals.

After climbing for 11 days we have finally reached our target of 100,000m. It has been a lot tougher than we had imagined. Thank you to everyone who has donated as it could not be possible with out you. We raised £561 which will be sent to the NHS to help in the coronavirus crisis. A huge thank you to Laura for organising everything and to everyone who participated. After just two days of climbing, we reached the height of Everest twice! To keep the motivation high we have come up with a new target. We will continuously run up our stairs till we reach outer space!

We are doing this to raise funds for NHS Charities together, which especially needs our donations to fund vital PPE and other medical equipment during the COVID-19 crisis. So please donate as much as you can!
