Home Vs West Rainton

One of the best teams we’ve played, some of the football they managed to put together was simply tremendous. Result aside we managed to hold our own for the majority and still managed to create plenty chances to get back in the game but it just wasn’t our day. Half time we made the full 5 changes for a final chance to get plenty minutes in everyone’s legs before our official first league game of the season away to Aycliffe sports club on Tuesday night.

We finish pre season with a 3-3 draw away to Hartlepool Millhouse.

A couple of dodgy decisions from the ref cost us the win, very whistle happy and didn’t let the game flow at all but that’s football.

Overall very happy with the performance from the lads playing around 60 mins with a makeshift team and 4 key members of the squad being missing today, plenty positives to take into next week.

Due to club captain Aaron Stenhouse moving back home to Edinburgh due to work commitments we are delighted to announce that Sam Irvin has been handed the captains armband for the upcoming season and Aiden Timmins had been named as new vice captain. Well done lads 👏

NASB 3-5 Aycliffe
Good run out this morning for the lads in our first pre season game, really nice to get the rust off and plenty minutes back in the legs.

An early mistake at the back cost seen us go 1-0 down, Leighton Hope made it 1-1 with a very nice finish into the far corner, we lost the lead once again through a poor decision to give a penalty which made it 1-2 which took us into half time. Within 5 mins of the restart with a very nice worked piece of play in midfield from Ethan Gray and Jack Dixon who have struck up an unbelievable partnership, The pair ran the midfield with Ethan Gray finding Matty Akester who was there to slot it away to make it 2-2, Matt Freeman found Leighton Hope with a 40 yard ball over the top which Leighton slotted away with ease to make it 3-2. 60 mins in we made 9 changes to give everyone a run out and the lads who started a well earned rest, not long after the changes seen a well worked Aycliffe goal with a lovely strike from 25 yards found the bottom corner to level the game again. 2 more goals came in quick succession from a mix up at the back between a whole new back 4 and keeper who hadn’t settled into the game yet but overall we are more than happy with what we seen from the lads over the course of the game.

Hats off to Leighton Hope and Jayden Fulton who are only 16 year old and have already cemented there place in the starting 11. Two excellent young players.

Nice to have Whitby Town FC player Coleby Shepherd joining us for training to keep him ticking over until Whitby go back for pre season. He’s massively helped us up the tempo and standards of every player in the team. 🔥🔥
