Really proud that today's inspection by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate resulted in a complete clean sheet! They couldn't pick us up on anything and were really happy with the comprehensive guidance we give customers!!

Veterinary Medicines Directorate regulate our prescribing of POM-VPS and NFA-VPS medications such as wormers for horses and companion animals. We offer worm egg counts, either in-house at our shop in Spalding, or via Westgate Labs postal service, as well as Equisal Tapeworm Test kits. When we get test results back, we then provide guidance and if a wormer is needed, we make sure we prescribe the right one according to the horse's clinical history and management.

There is no "one size fits all" approach, and the guidance has changed significantly as a result of the growing problem of worm resistance to the available drugs. So our service is designed to support our customers with a long term personalised approach to your horse's worm management.

Had a wonderful time yesterday with Zebra Products, Sprenger and Michael Eilberg. Really interesting seeing Michael test a couple of bits on one of his horses to understand the difference in feel and response between them.

We are strongly encouraging equine owners to remain vigilant after a positive Equine Influenza result for an unvaccinated horse in Ely.

Equine influenza (flu) is one of the most contagious diseases that affects horses and can be devastating in susceptible populations as it spreads easily through coughing and close contact. People, tack, and equipment can also transmit the virus. This case has been reported to the Equine Infectious Disease Surveillance (EIDS) Scheme.

• Dry cough
• Nasal discharge
• Loss of appetite
• Lethargy

Young and old horses are more susceptible to secondary bacterial infections such as pneumonia. Vaccination and strict biosecurity measures such as isolating infected horses, proper cleaning and disinfection, and restricting movement of horses from affected areas are crucial for prevention 🧴 Horses that travel frequently may require more frequent boosters 💉

Whilst there is no specific cure, rest and good ventilation is important whilst managing symptoms accordingly.

VE Day 80 Flypast Rehearsal 2025

There will be a VE Day 80 Flypast on the 5th May 2025, involving a large formation of military aircraft, but before that there will be a VE Day 80 Flypast Rehearsal, on either Monday 28th April or Tuesday 29th April 2025. For example if the weather was bad on Monday then it would take place on Tuesday.

The rehearsals will start in the vicinity of the North Sea adjacent to East Anglia then route via the overhead of RAF Marham, Norfolk and overfly RAF Cranwell and RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire, dispersal will occur over Lincolnshire.

AREA A - NORTH SEA, SUFFOLK AND NORFOLK: between 11.45 & 2.45pm BST, SFC to 10,000ft AMSL

AREA B - CORRIDOR BETWEEN NORTH WEST OF HALESWORTH AND MARHAM AD: between 1.15 & 2.10pm BST, SFC to 7,000ft AMSL

AREA C - CORRIDOR BETWEEN MARHAM AD AND WADDINGTON AD: between 1.20 & 2.10pm BST, SFC to 3,000ft AMSL

The map shows the corridors where the flypast will take place and include RAF Marham, RAF Cranwell and RAF Waddington.
