The annual Laurence Baxter 3-Bowl Open Triples Tournament was held at the Royal Mail Cart last Bank Holiday Monday in sweltering and sometimes uncomfortable weather conditions throughout the day and which saw 16 teams of 48 people over 2 separate sessions compete in 4 matches played to EBA rules.

The triples rinks were determined by an open draw to see who they would play in their 4 games with the rinks and numbers preset beforehand and once all sessions were completed, the 2026 season champions were Martin Simpson, John Allen and Ian Macfarlane from the home club and they collected a £75 first prize and the trophy. The second place team were Waylon Clarke, Lee Chamberlain & Gemma Hanks who won £60 for their efforts and the third place side were Liam Stanley, Carly Morris and Andrew Sculthorpe from Moulton Harrox BC who claimed £45 between them.

The refreshments were enjoyed all day from the Royal Mail Cart pub next door alongside a well supported raffle and we wish to thank the pub for their hospitality, the organisers for sorting and running the event and the competitors for playing and hopefully appreciating the facilities and bowls green surface itself and so look forward to holding this tournament again next season but also potentially reviving the Brian Richer 4-Bowl Open Pairs Tournament for later this year so watch this space for more information…

Well done to everyone involved!! 👍🙏
