Halifax Canoe Club

Halifax Canoe Club The Club is based in the centre of Sowerby Bridge, where we make good use of the both flat water and man-made white water course adjacent on the River Calder.

Those new to the sport will need to start on one of our beginners courses where our qualified coaches will introduce you to the skills you need to start paddling safely. As you progress our coaches can introduce you to move advanced skills, white water paddling, open canoes, slalom and freestyle canoeing. There's also the chance to try sea kayaking, slalom racing, weekends away and during the wint

er much of the club's activity is heading off on river trips to suit various levels of ability. If you are interested in joining the club please email [email protected] and we'll get back to you as soon as we can about beginners courses or membership (but we're all volunteers so it may take a few days!)

Volunteers Needed - 4 & 5 July
The slalom event that the club are running at Oughtibridge, near Sheffield is fast approaching (4 & 5 July) and we really need volunteers to come along and hep us run the event - and raise money for the club. The more helpers we have the easier it is, and all of the roles are easy to pick up so no previous experience is needed.

Also all profits from the event go to the club to keep your memberhsip costs down - last year's event made over £700, but without volunteers we can't run it!

This is also a chance to have a go at the entry level of slalom - even if you don't like racing its a personal challenge to see if you can do the course on easy white water (easier than at the club).

Please volunteer if you can, the more people we have the easier it is for everyone - full details and sign up at:

Your help is needed to help run our slalom across the weekend (and raise funds for the club). You could also have a go to see if you can meet the challenge to get through the gates !
