Due to popular demand: we're offering chance to book on to individual workshops within our 6 Week Introduction to Strength Training Course

Individual workshops are just £25, with 10% discount if you book 3 or more.

💪🏽Week 1- 7th January
Everything you need to know to get started with strength training, and how to build strong foundations with body weight exercises.

💪🏽Week 2 - 14th January
Deadlifts & push ups. Always the most popular requests for ladies to learn! We'll give you variations and progressions to help you nail these two exercises.

💪🏽Week 3 - 21st January
Squats & chest press. Learn the best technique for these 2 power house moves.

💪🏽Week 4 - 28th January
Lunges & rows. Always feel a bit wobbly with lunges? We'll help you fix that, whilst showing you the first steps towards nailing chin ups!

💪🏽Week 5 - 4th February
Cleans & twists. Shake up your strength routine with some fun movements.

💪🏽Week 6 - 11th February
Personal Workout Plans. Chance to fine tune any exercises you've learned on the course, plus create a personalised strength training routine you can continue yourself at home or in the gym.

MEET YOUR COACH- JENNIE

Hi 👋🏼 I’m a body positive Personal Trainer with a passion for helping women feel bad ass.

I’ve worked in health & fitness for nearly 10 years running my own private studio in Leeds. I’m a published writer and was National Fitness Expert for Weight Watchers UK for over 4 years.

My philosophy is ‘Awesome Isn’t Measured In Pounds’ because confidence can’t be weighed or tracked. It’s a feeling we get from challenging ourselves and celebrating what we can do, not from slaving away to make ourselves smaller.

Weights training is my biggest passion (alongside boxing, hiking and yoga). But I know how intimidating it can be getting started, which is why i’ve created Strong Start, in my home town of Halifax.

🏋🏼‍♀️ With our 6 week Introduction to Strength Training course you’ll learn how to use a variety of weights equipment safely & effectively.

🤍 WHEN
Saturdays at 8.30am or 10am
Starting 7th Jan for 6 weeks

🤍 WHERE
The super friendly (gym-bro free) Kates Classes in Sowerby Bridge

🤍WHO
This course has been created for people with little or no experience of using weights and is suitable for all ages and sizes (you’re never too old to start)

🤍 WHAT’S INVOLVED
Every week you’ll learn 3 foundational strength moves using a variety of resistance equipment such as dumbbells, a barbell, kettlebells and more.

In between sessions there’s a private facebook group for support and reminders of technique points.

🤍 WHY
Strength training is beneficial to people of all ages and abilities. With many proven physical and mental health benefits. At the end of the course you’ll feel confident with a range of resistance exercises plan a person workout routine.

🤍 WHAT ELSE
Each class is limited to just 12 people, meaning there’s plenty of chance for 1-1 support. Places already filling up, so book early to avoid disappointment

“I want to tone up, but I don’t want to get too big and bulky”

I hear this from ladies all the time. And based on the way that strong women are often depicted in the media (aggressive, unfeminine, obsessive) it’s understandable you might feel that way.

But the images of super jacked ladies with rippling muscles are not the common outcome of weights training. They’re the exception. It takes years, and hours of hard work and sacrifice to look that way.

Most women simply don’t have the hormonal profile to build a lot of muscle. And even if you do, it isn’t necessarily going to make you look bulky.

In my 10 years as a personal trainer, i’ve helped hundreds of women get started in weights training. And many of them
find that the increase in muscle actually helps in reducing body fat, making you appear smaller over all.

Plus all the amazing health benefits and the fact you’ll feel a bit bad ass!
