The Mad Hatters were out last Wednesday for the annual Lady Captains Day.

Great day of competition with Jayne George and Claire Johnston winning the 15 Hole Competition, Elspeth French and Jackie Foley Cross winning the 5 hole competition.

Nearest the pin was Lucy Mewse and the Longest Drive on 12th was Julia Hill.

The most hotly contested competitions were the ‘Longest Marshmallow Drive’ which was won by Penny Cleveley and the 'Fastest time on the 4th’ which was won by Jenny Cardwell,
Jane Clarke, Penny Cleveley and Dott Wilson.

An all round silly day, enjoyed by all.

Friday evening our steadfast group of 7 newbies played a 6hole scramble with members of our ladies section.

The sun shone, the sky was beautiful and some great golf was played.

Our newbies were nervous but all enjoyed the event as we completed the coaching year.

Many thanks to Di Mayhew, Catherine Millward, Jayne George and Ann Frost for supporting myself and Tom over the year.

At least 4 of these ladies are looking to become academy members so please say Hi if you see them on the course.

The SGC Mens's Hambro and Tolly teams line up for the camera's. Congratulations go to both teams who managed fantastic wins at the weekend with the Hambro winning away at Flempton by 10up and the Tolly winning by 7up at home against local rivals Halesworth. Well done all and on to the quarter finals!

Hi Everyone,

Last Thursday Southwold Golf and Cricket Clubs held a joint fundraising Dinner at a packed Sports Pavilion with Graham Gooch as mine host together with Sir Ian Botham(Beefy) as the principal guest speaker.

Graham was in great form with many cricket antidotes, reminiscing his time playing for England alongside Beefy, showing his brilliant auctioneer skills and finally a fascinating Q&A with Beefy that kept the adoring guests hanging on their every word. An enjoyable evening had by all with a successful fundraiser for both Clubs.

Special thanks to our evening sponsors Norton Peskett Solicitors alongside Adnams plc and Swiss Camplings and the Caterers (A Couple of Cowgals Catering) and Shaun and his team at the Sports Pavilion.

Many thanks also to all those who kindly donated raffle prizes and in particular to John & Mel Mills, Clyde Camburn, Nigel Johnson, Jeff & Catherine Fuller, Nick Pagan, Trevor & Pam Clifford plus Sir Ian Botham and Graham Gooch who all donated Auction items.

The Auctions and Raffle on the night raised over £11k. Final fundraising total for the event will be confirmed later.

Well done to Anita Edwards who won the scratch salver at the ladies Spring Meeting. The ladies enjoyed less than Spring weather but were rewarded with a fantastic selection of tea and cakes afterwards. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
