September is here… and rugby is getting closer! 🏉🖤💛

We’re pleased to share the confirmed and rearranged fixtures for our Senior teams for 2026/27. Our Men’s 1XV, Men’s 2XV and Women now know what the season ahead looks like, with plenty of rugby to look forward to both home and away.

📅 All senior fixtures are now available on the RFC website, with our own website fixtures being updated and a downloadable Senior Fixtures PDF being added to the Southwold website soon.

Our Minis, Youth & Colts fixture update will follow over the next few days.

It’s been a slightly longer wait than we’d planned, but the teams are training, the fixtures are in, and the countdown to competitive rugby is officially on. See you back on the touchline very soon. 🖤💛🏉

Huge shoutout to those taking part in The Alzheimer's Rugby Club Cycle Tour.

Organised by Jason Wyatt, the tour honours the memories his parents have lost due to Alzheimer's. Jason is joined by a group of family and friends who are taking on a 230 mile cycling challenge around rugby clubs in Norfolk & Suffolk. They are stopping at clubs all over East Anglia and are staying at local clubs including Southwold. They have already raised over 10K, smashing the inital £7500 target.

The tour team will be stopping off for a night on the Common and staying at Southwold RFC on Saturday night.

Rugby is back! 🖤💛

This Sunday marks the start of the 2026/27 season for our Minis, Youth & Colts as we return to The Common for registration and training*.

After a summer away, we can’t wait to see familiar faces back with a rugby ball in hand and hopefully plenty of new ones too!

Whether you’re new to the area, looking to get back into rugby or fancy trying something completely new, come and see what Southwold RFC is all about. We offer three FREE taster sessions across all Minis & Youth age groups, giving everyone the chance to meet the coaches, join in with the team and give rugby a go.

Our U12s squeezed in one last summer get-together with an evening of beach rugby before heading straight into the sea for a swim! 🏉🌊😂 What better way to round off the summer and get everyone excited for the new season? 🖤💛

We’re back on The Common from Sunday 6th September at 10am, with registration and training taking place across September.

From U6–U12 Minis through to our Youth & Colts, there’s a place at Southwold RFC for children aged 5+ to get involved.

Never played before? No problem! Every child can enjoy three FREE sessions* to come along, meet the coaches, make some new friends and see if rugby is for them. Whether they’re already rugby-mad or have never picked up a ball, everyone is welcome. 🏉🙌

Our Senior Men are back in action tomorrow as we take on Sudbury 2XV for our next pre-season fixture.

We’re on the road again, heading to Colchester RFC to make use of their 3G pitches while conditions at home remain a little too firm for rugby.

A reminder that our Senior Men are back in action tomorrow as we take on Mistley at Colchester, who have kindly stepped in to host us on their 3G pitch following the recent weather.

And we’re pleased to confirm there’s more rugby to come! 🙌 Our second pre-season fixture will see us take on Sudbury 2XV, once again at Colchester.

2026/27 Season Update | Senior Rugby🏉

For our senior men, competitive rugby is now due to begin on Saturday 26th September. We’re awaiting confirmation of how the postponed matches will be rearranged and will share updated fixtures for both the 1XV and 2XV as soon as everything is confirmed.

In the meantime, friendly rugby can continue, and our fixture against Mistley is ON this Saturday. As shared last week, the match has moved to Colchester RFU, who have kindly offered the use of their artificial pitches, with an updated 5pm kick-off. 🏉

We’re also still planning to play a friendly on 29th August, with opposition currently being confirmed.

For the women, their first league fixture is now scheduled to be away at North Walsham on 27th September. Before then, they are due to travel to Wymondham for a friendly on 29th August, subject to pitch conditions.

Unfortunately, the planned Men’s 1XV and Women’s double-header against Woodbridge on 19th September has been postponed. We’re hoping there’ll be an opportunity to host another double-header during the season. 🤞

Once the rearranged fixtures are confirmed, we'll publish the full schedules for our 1XV, 2XV and Women’s team across our website and socials.

It might be a slightly later start than we’d planned, but the work doesn’t stop. Training continues for both our Senior Men and Women, with new and returning players always welcome.

We can’t wait to get the 2026/27 season properly underway. 🖤💛

2026/27 Season Update | Minis, Youth & Colts🖤💛

Following the recent RFU announcement regarding the postponement of competitive rugby, we wanted to share what this means for our Minis, Youth and Colts as we get ready for the new season.

The good news is training can still go ahead as planned, which means we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to The Common for our usual Registration Day on Sunday 6th September from 10am. 🙌

Our opening training sessions will focus on training, skills, fitness and teamwork, but most importantly, getting everyone back together and enjoying rugby again.

Returning players and parents, please take the opportunity to check that your details are up to date and that you’re registered with the club. New to Southwold? Just come along! Our membership team will be there to welcome you, answer any questions and help with everything you need to get started.

In terms of fixtures, we’re currently working towards competitive rugby resuming from the week beginning 21st September, subject to further RFU confirmation.

Our Colts are awaiting further information following a meeting next week, with their opening Conference fixture on 20th September likely to be postponed.

Our Youth teams aren't currently due to begin until 27th September, with their first home fixtures from 4th October, so we’re hopeful these will be able to go ahead as planned.

For our Minis, the current expectation is also that festivals and fixtures scheduled after the proposed 21st September review will continue as planned, subject to confirmation.

There may be a slight delay to competitive rugby, but rugby-filled Sunday mornings are back from 6th September, and we can’t wait to see The Common full of Black & Gold again. 🖤💛

We’ll keep everyone updated as soon as further information is confirmed.
