Minis End of Season Recap πŸ–€πŸ’›

What a year it's been for our Minis section. The biggest highlight has to be our 24% growth in player numbers, a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the welcoming, fun and inclusive environment that makes Southwold RFC such a special place for young players and their families.

It has been another season packed with rugby and memorable experiences. From the U10s attending the Leicester Tigers Cup, to the U12s competing in the Defender Cup at Northampton Saints, and our U11s enjoying a brilliant trip to Kettering before watching Saints v Bath at Franklin's Gardens. These opportunities help our young players develop their skills, build friendships and create lasting memories.

We were also delighted to host Northampton Saints rugby camps at Southwold, while many of our Minis have continued to support rugby at all levels, from Southwold senior matches through to Premiership and international fixtures.

Most importantly, it has been another year of smiles, muddy boots, new friendships and a love of rugby growing across every age group.

A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters for everything you do!

Youth & Colts End of Season Recap πŸ–€πŸ’›

Another fantastic season for our Youth and Colts sections, filled with development, determination and plenty of rugby.

Despite operating with a small squad and facing a number of injuries after Christmas, our Colts enjoyed an excellent campaign, finishing with 12 wins, 2 draws and 6 losses. An unbeaten run before Christmas saw them top their conference, while strong performances and results throughout the season highlighted the character of the group.

Our U16s spent the year testing themselves against some of the strongest sides in Norfolk and Suffolk and were rewarded with an impressive run to the Suffolk Cup Final, a brilliant achievement for both players and coaches.

The U13s continued their strong progress, recording 16 wins from 25 fixtures and enjoying particular success on the festival circuit, while our U12s saw their numbers more than double during the season, growing from 8 to 17 players and building a fantastic platform as they move into youth rugby.

Across every age group, the season has been defined by teamwork, resilience, development and enjoyment. A huge thank you to all our players, coaches, volunteers, parents and supporters who make youth rugby at Southwold possible.

The new generation of the Black & Gold is looking bright. πŸ’›πŸ–€

What a brilliant start to Summer Touch Rugby! β˜€οΈπŸ‰

It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces alongside plenty of new ones down at Halesworth Campus for our first session of the summer.

With players aged 6–14, there was plenty of energy, lots of laughs and some great rugby skills on show. The morning included a great mix of touch rugby games, ball-handling skills and attacking drills, giving everyone the chance to learn, improve and have fun.

One of the best things about summer touch is seeing players from different age groups learning together and simply enjoying being active with a rugby ball in hand. And remember, it's completely FREE and open to all, so if you missed week one, there's still plenty of time to come along and get involved.

A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers and parents for helping make it such a great start. See you on Sunday, 10am at Halesworth Campus! πŸ–€πŸ’›

Southwold Women's End of Season Recap πŸ–€πŸ’›

Another memorable season for the Women of the Wold. Building on the continued growth of the women's game, the squad produced some outstanding performances throughout the 2025/26 campaign, finishing 3rd in the league with 8 wins from 12 matches and proudly remaining unbeaten at home all season. πŸ‰

The progress made across the squad was clear to see, with strong individual performances, excellent teamwork and a commitment to improving week in, week out.

Special congratulations to Abi, Honor, Josie and Charlotte on their Norfolk & Suffolk representative honours this season, while captain Abi Pipes also earned selection for Eastern Counties. Playing for your county is always a fantastic achievement for both the players and the club.

Congratulations also to our award winners:
πŸ† Charlotte – Golden Boot & League Top Points Scorer
πŸ† Maisie – Most Improved Player
πŸ† Rachel – Coaches' Player
πŸ† Abi – Players' Player

A huge thank you to our coaches, management team, volunteers, supporters, friends and families who make women's rugby at Southwold possible. Your support continues to help the section grow both on and off the field.

As we look ahead to the 2026/27 season, we are excited to welcome Toni and Elyse into the leadership team as they take over from Abi. We look forward to seeing their leadership drive the squad forward as we continue to build on the foundations established this year. We look forward to creating more memories, welcoming new faces, and sharing further success both on and off the field in the seasons to come.

Senior Men's End of Season Recap πŸ–€πŸ’›

What a season for the Black & Gold. After slipping to 9th place midway through the campaign following injuries and a tough run of fixtures, the 1XV responded in style, finishing with 11 consecutive wins in all competitions, securing 4th place in Counties 1 Eastern Counties and lifting the Suffolk Cup for a third consecutive year after a thrilling final victory over Stowmarket. πŸ†

The 2XV also enjoyed a strong season, providing valuable opportunities for returning players and Colts stepping into senior rugby for the first time. We're delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with promotion to Eastern Counties 1 North, creating even more opportunities for player development next season.

Across both squads, strong numbers, emerging young talent and experienced heads have helped create a brilliant environment both on and off the pitch.

A huge thank you to our coaches, volunteers, medical team, matchday staff, supporters, sponsors and everyone behind the scenes who make senior rugby at Southwold possible.

The future is bright. Bring on 2026/27. πŸ’›πŸ–€
