Player of the month for February, Emily!
Wow! You are AMAZING Emily! She has been with us since we started squash stars and has never stopped trying her absolute best! She is amazing at listening to advice or tips from the coaches and using that to improve her squash! Who knows how far you can go with such an amazing attitude and work ethic! She does all of that with a massive smile on her face while enjoying everything that squash can bring. You're a pleasure to coach Emily and keep it up!

A rising junior squash player from Southwell is making waves on the county circuit after an outstanding performance at a major Nottinghamshire tournament and in his first Inter-county U17 match. 🥇

Henry Ian, a junior member of Southwell Squash Club, claimed first place in the G Grade at the Nottingham Squash Open 2026 on the 10th January… then the very next day won his first inter county match as part of the U17 team in their match against Lincolnshire! 👏

Competing against strong opposition from across the county, Henry has impressed with his confidence and consistency on court, hallmarks of a player developing rapidly. 🇬🇧

Over the past year, Henry has made a dramatic leap in his competitive ranking. Having been ranked 594 this time last year, he has now climbed to 1,895, including an eye-catching 23.7 per cent improvement in just one weekend! Such progress is a clear sign that his hard work is paying off. 🏆

Coaches and supporters alike have praised Henry’s attitude and commitment, noting that his enthusiasm for the sport is matched by a willingness to learn and improve. 🌟

Achievements like this highlight the strength of junior squash development in the Southwell area and the opportunities available for young players to grow both on and off the court. 📈

The Grove Ladies Open! Super proud of 3 of our ladies playing their first squash tournament (And first competitive matches). Representing Southwell squash club, notts ladies and most importantly themselves. Lots of fun and great squash to get a 3rd place, a 4th place and an 8th place finish in Grade D. Wow!

Thank you Grove squash club and Millie Tomlinson for organising such a great tournament. Well done all the ladies!

Junior Spotlight: Henry is on fire! 🔥

Huge congratulations to our junior player Henry, who has been producing some outstanding squash recently.

He picked up FIRST PLACE 🥇 in the G Grade at the Nottinghamshire Squash Rackets Association - NSRA Nottingham Squash Open 2026 this weekend, showing real confidence, composure and consistency on court.

On top of that, his has jumped massively, with a 23.7% improvement in the last week(!) climbing to 1,895. He was 594 this time last year!!!

Hard work, dedication and coaching are clearly paying off. This is a fantastic achievement and a brilliant sign of what’s still to come.

Well done Henry, keep pushing and keep enjoying your squash!

Player of the month for December, Connie!

What a little superstar! Never stops smiling and enjoying her squash. Connie always tries her absolute best and we've had so much fun seeing her grow as a player. We have seen her pick up a squash racket for the first time and now grow into a player who can rally and smash that squash ball. Keep it up Connie! We can't wait to see how good you can get

Player of the month for November - Oscar!

Wow what a year you've had with us. Oscar has been with us since the start of squash stars and he has improved so much!

We're super proud of how well you're doing and it's all because of the efforts YOU put in. He always tries his best, always listens beautifully and most of all always has fun playing squash and that's what it's all about!

A fantastic end to the Nottinghamshire Winter Squash Leagues for Southwell Squash Club!

Team 1 delivered a strong and consistent campaign to finish second in Division 4, earning a well-deserved promotion. Team 2 went one step further, putting in an outstanding season to win Division 5 and secure promotion in style. Team 3 also impressed throughout the winter, finishing a very respectable third in Division 7 with a strong performance.

Two promotions, great performances across all teams, and plenty to be proud of. Huge congratulations to all players involved and thanks to everyone who supported the teams throughout the season. On to the next one!
