Hi all,

Well summer is finally here (minus the sun!) and The Unit is back open.

Spartan classes will continue over the summer inside at The Unit . Please see below for days and times:

Monday - 4-5pm
Wednesday - 4-5pm
Thursday 4-5pm

Please book in on TeamUp so we can follow government contact guidelines and also so we know who will be attending, as we can only have 7 per session.

If you need any help booking into TeamUp , please let us know.

I started the CTC Spartan programme with the aim of getting kids stronger , fitter and More confident in themselves .
In our sessions we use the GPP ( general physical preparedness) principle . So rather than focusing on one skill such as running we build strength and fitness through the entire body .
🔹 squats.
🔹presses.
🔹hinges.
🔹carries.
🔹pulls.
🔹jumps.
🔹core.
With this type of training ,kids who have never been able to do a squat or press up are now completing multiple sets with good form . A byproduct of this is more confidence in themselves and abilities . Kids who gave up sports are now getting back onto the pitch .
But i always focus on the basics and doing them well . It’s about building a bigger base of fitness .

The 7-10 group from yesterday’s spartan session working on co-ordination and team work . .
The young Spartans had to perform a series of movements while keeping the ball balanced and on the poles . .
It’s a bit of fun for the kids as well because if they do drop the ball ( literally ) a forfeit is given . .
The Spartans had a great session and finished with a great circuit .

The unit has been open 3 years this week .
It’s been a busy 3 years and the unit and business has has grown and changed a lot . .
However I still want the unit to be a place where people can come to train , get some results and make a positive change to themselves. .
The strongman , powerlifting and olly club is growing . The Spartan sessions are getting stronger . Now I feel the unit is finally getting there 💪. .
Thanks to everyone who has helped me and the unit . Past members , current members well you know the score . Here’s to another great busy year. It’s been emotional.........

The myth that children should not lift weights is still in the back of most parents minds . With correct instruction , lifting for kids is highly beneficial for athletic development and performance. In other words the stronger, fitter and more confident the young athlete is with their own body the more that transfers onto the field of play .
