So today we had our very 1st Match of the Dames in collaboration with Shrimpers Trust & Southend United Community Foundation & sponsored by BTMK Solicitors
The group met at Beaumont Lounge Bar for a delicious breakfast and coffee's before walking up to Roots Hall for an early kick off.
A fabulous day out. All the Dames had a lot of fun, cheering along the team with their scarves and voices and it was made all the more exciting with a 3 - 2 win against Yeovil.
Many memories made and we hope to have converted a few of you. Our next match will be Saturday 26th September if you would like to become an honorary Dame ๐Ÿฉท

We were delighted to welcome AFCAPS (The Association of Foster Carers and Adoptive Parents in Southend On Sea) to Roots Hall today on behalf of the Shrimpers Trust and Southend United Football Club . They enjoyed a full afternoon of hospitality and it was made all the more exciting by a 3 - 2 win against Yeovil.

AFCAPS is a local organisation dedicated to supporting foster carers, adoptive parents and, most importantly, the children and young people in care. We are celebrating 25 years of service this year.
A big part of our work is making sure that children have opportunities to enjoy themselves, make memories and take part in activities that they may not otherwise have access to.
Throughout the year we organise a variety of events and activities and fundraising is important as it enables us to provide experiences for the children. Many children have experienced difficult or unsettled circumstances in their lives and opportunities to have fun, make friends and feel included can mean so much.
We organise monthly events at Garons Park with activities such as basketball and netball, various games and sports. We have secured a 50% reduction at Southend Tennis & Leisure to help make it more affordable for foster families and their children to enjoy the facilities.
We are extremely grateful to charities, business and individuals who support AFCAPS. Their generosity allows us to continue putting children first.

Well done to all the volunteers at AFCAPS for the fantastic work you all do and long may it continue.

We were delighted to welcome 'Just Ride' to Roots Hall last night on behalf of the Shrimpers Trust & Southend United. They enjoyed a full evening of hospitality and despite the score a good time was had by all.

Just Ride Southend is an inclusive cycling project, which has been running 12 years. Our mission is simple: to ensure that absolutely anybody - regardless of age, ability, faith, or background - can engage with cycling and enjoy its physical and mental well-being benefits.
To make this possible, they provide a fantastic range of adapted equipment, including hand cranks, side-by-side assisted bikes, and even wheelchair platform and transfer bikes. This allows everyone to experience the sense of movement and freedom that many of us take for granted, even if someone else is doing the pedalling for them round Garon athletics track SS2 4FA and over 18,000 riders did that in 2025. We are open to the public every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday 10-12. We still have some availability for our 'Match of the Dames' this coming Saturday 5th September.
Meeting up around 10.30am for refreshments. We will then walk up to the ground for match kick off at 12.30pm.
Any ladies who have always wondered what it would be like to attend a game for one of the best supported teams in the National League, please get in touch for what will be a great day out and meeting other like minded ladies supporting football.
