Less than a week to go until our next Spotlight Session and the Gold Bloc Challenge! 🧗🏆

On Monday 14th September, we’ll be resetting the Anti-Gravity Set with plenty of fresh blocs to try, including two special Gold Blocs – one for the men’s category and one for the women’s category.

Both will feature a 4-point start and a zone to bring a bit of that competition-final feel ahead of IndiBlock Stars 👀

The rules are simple: the challenge starts at 6:30pm, and the first person to top the Gold Bloc in each category wins! To keep things fair and give everyone time to get to IndiRock, please save your Gold Bloc attempts until 6:30pm.

And, of course, there are prizes up for grabs! Each winner will receive:

☕ A £10 IndiRock Coffee Shop voucher
🧗 A chalk ball
⭐ IndiRock stickers

The Gold Bloc Challenge is happening on Monday 14th only, so come down and give it a go!

The school year has officially started, which means it’s time to get back into a routine! 🎒🧗

If your child discovered climbing over the summer and wants to keep going, or they usually climb regularly but took a break over the holidays, now is a great time to make climbing part of their weekly routine again.

Our youth coaching memberships are designed to do exactly that – combining regular coaching with the freedom to climb and practise in their own time.

IndiRock is an accredited NICAS provider, offering a nationally recognised programme that helps young climbers develop their skills and progress at their own pace.

We have sessions for different ages and stages:

🧗 Wild Climbers, Ages 4–5

Fun, game-based sessions introducing younger climbers to movement and climbing skills.

🧗 NICAS Foundation 1, Ages 6–12
Tuesdays, 6:00–7:00pm
For beginners starting their NICAS climbing journey.

🧗 NICAS Foundation 2, Ages 6–12
Wednesdays, 7:00–8:00pm
For young climbers progressing beyond beginner level.

🧗 NICAS Foundation, Ages 13–17
Thursdays, 6:00–7:00pm
For beginner and intermediate teenage climbers.

Our Child Coaching Membership is £65 a month and includes your choice of one weekly coached session PLUS unlimited climbing at IndiRock in your own time.

For ages 4–5, our Wild Climbers Monthly Membership is £45 a month and also includes weekly Wild Climbers sessions plus unlimited climbing.

Chalk Etiquette Part 4 🧗‍♀️

Throughout our Chalk Etiquette series, we’ve talked about the small things we can all do as climbers to reduce chalk dust. For Part 4, the last one from the series, we’re turning the focus to what we’re doing behind the scenes at IndiRock.

With lots of climbers using chalk every day, some chalk dust is inevitable. That’s why, alongside encouraging better chalk habits, we have several measures in place to help manage it and reduce how much builds up around the centre.

🌬️ Powerful ventilation, around the clock
Our ventilation system runs continuously, helping to keep air moving through the centre and reduce the build-up of airborne chalk dust.

💨 StaticAir units
We also use StaticAir units, designed to capture fine airborne particles and help us manage chalk dust around the climbing space.

🧹 Getting chalk out of the mats
A lot of chalk eventually settles into the mats, where it can be disturbed by people walking, climbing and landing. Our New Chalk Technologies vibrating chalk extractor helps remove chalk that has worked its way into the mats and might not be reached by regular surface cleaning.

✨ Monthly overhead dust clearance
Chalk doesn’t just settle on the mats! It can also build up on beams, fixtures and other hard-to-reach areas, so we now carry out monthly overhead dust clearance to regularly tackle that build-up.

There’s no single solution to chalk dust in a climbing gym, which is why we’re tackling it from several angles, ventilation, StaticAir units, mat extraction and regular overhead cleaning.

Alongside better chalk habits from all of us, these measures help us keep chalk dust under control and make IndiRock a more comfortable place to climb. 💪
