Mulberry harbour walk 🚢⚓️
I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely bunch of people today on our walk out to the Mulberry harbour, creating new memories for many people..

What is it?
The History: It is a surviving section of a portable temporary harbour built for the 1944 D-Day Normandy landings.
The Story: This specific unit (a C1-type caisson built in Yorkshire) sprang a leak and was grounded in the Thames Estuary while being towed toward France, where it has remained ever since.
Scale: It is a hollow, reinforced concrete structure measuring over 200 feet long.
