What do I need to do to start running competitions?

The first step is to attend a three hour Competition Organiser course which is run online over zoom.

The course, which is not assessed, covers:

Competition framework, ratings and rankings
Running a competition from start to finish – competition creation to submitting results
Formal and informal competition formats
Creating the best competition experience possible
To attend a course you must be aged 16 or over and be a UK resident.

Having attended a course to be eligible to deliver local and recreational competitions graded 6 or 7 you must become an LTA Licensed Official, unless you are a Coach and already hold LTA Accreditation or Accreditation+.

You will then have access to apply to run competitions via the LTA Competition Management System and can apply for tools such as Results Manager, Box League Manager and Tennis Tournament Planner (TTP).

You can book your Competition Organiser course here: https://www.lta.org.uk/roles-and-venues/coaches/development/courses/?optType=name&course-name=+Competition+Organiser

here are no courses avaliable, please register your interest here: https://www.lta.org.uk/roles-and-venues/officials/officiating-courses-interest/

The LTA and Getty Images are proud to celebrate 50 years of wheelchair tennis, with a digital exhibition of 50 images – some published for the first time.

Created in 1976, by American Brad Parks, what began on public courts in California quickly gathered momentum. By the mid‑1980s, international tournaments were being staged, the World Team Cup had been launched, and the ITF had formally recognised wheelchair tennis.

Today, wheelchair tennis is fully embedded across the four Grand Slams and the Paralympics Games, with men’s, women’s, quad and junior events now contested on the world’s biggest stages.

The LTA brought together key figures from the world of wheelchair tennis to select 50 iconic images from across the years from the Getty Images’ vast tennis archive as well as previously unseen historic photographs.
