We’re back!

League hockey starts TOMORROW for the Ladies’ 2XI and 3XI. For everybody else it’s one more week of friendlies, including a big clash for the Ladies’ 1XI against National League opposition and a hotly contested Men’s 1XI vs 2XI showdown.

Let’s welcome the new season in style! 🏑

Club Day is THIS SUNDAY and everyone’s welcome — current members, returning players, juniors, families and anyone thinking about joining Southampton HC.

09:00–10:30 — Junior training
10:30–13:00 — Mixed open club matches
From 13:00 — BBQ at The View 🍔

Come down, get some hockey in, catch up with everyone and start the season in style.

If you’re playing in the mixed matches, please bring both a blue and a white shirt.

Know someone who might fancy giving hockey a go? Bring them along too — prospective members are very welcome!

📣 2026/27 TRAINING SCHEDULE 🏑

There are some big changes for 2026/27 as we continue to raise standards and develop hockey across the club.

Starting first week of September:

🔵 Both our Men's and Ladies' 1XIs will have their own dedicated Wednesday evening training sessions, giving our performance squads more focused time to train and develop together.

⚪ Ladies' 2XI & 3XI and Men's Club training will move to Thursday evenings, allowing us to make better use of our coaching resources and deliver higher-quality, more focused sessions across the club.

🔵 Sunday Junior hockey returns on 6th Sep, with Academy sessions running from mid September.

Congratulations to club legend Sue Merry on another Masters World Cup gold medal!

She captained the England WO65s at the Brasschaat event, scoring 3 goals as they won all 5 games en route to the final!

After a nail biting 70 minutes vs Australia, the scores remained level at 0-0, but a calm finish from Sue in the resulting shootout helped England secure the win and bring home the trophy!

Well done to everyone involved in the effort including 2 other local players!

🏑 MEN’S/OPEN HOCKEY PLAYERS WANTED IN SOUTHAMPTON

Were pushing for promotion and were looking for ambitious players who want to be a part of it.

Our Men’s 1XI and & 2XI compete in South Central Divisions 3 & 4 South and are on the hunt for an handful of players to complement our core of experienced players and talented youngsters and we build towards the 2026/27 season.

Whether you’re moving to Southampton, returning to hockey or simply looking for a new challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

Junior Summer Hockey is back!

Weekly sessions for 7-13 year olds start TOMORROW at 10:30am!

Whether your kids have enjoyed hockey at school and want to see what local clubs have to offer, are currently members looking to keep their skills fresh over the summer, or you’re just looking for some cheap active fun for them to enjoy, get in touch to get involved!

We’re back!

Pre-season starts THIS WEEK!

Come on down to our stick and ball sessions every Wednesday 19:30-21:00 at The Sports Centre to freshen up your skills before the season kicks off.

Then build up your match readiness at our fitness and conditioning sessions on the common where we’ll be joined by personal trainer Lucy Bernardez | Health and Fitness Coach to put everyone through their paces! (Meet at what3words ///shiny.heavy.comb)

All sessions are open to current and prospective members - if you’re new to the club and want to get involved just drop us a DM!

Take us back!

Can’t believe it’s been two whole weeks since Sonning Hockey Festival! What a great weekend of sunshine, camping, fancy dress, world cup football, drinking and of course a little bit of hockey…

These few hockeyless weeks have got us pining for the pitch already, but not to fear, we’ll have news for you about pre-season training imminently so keep your eyes peeled!

Thanks for having us back Sonning Hockey Club, see you again next year!
