The gokyo in is our fundamentals, our foundations. At Parity Martial Arts and Wellness we are going through every technique one by one so that both our adults and kids are exposed to the full breadth of Judo techniques, not just what is popular or known well by coach Lance.

It's about expanding our Judo vocabulary.

Beginners always welcome, we have small supply of spare judo jackets and belts. We have super soft mats and great people who will make you feel right at home.

Nage komi in Judo is an important way of exploring the full range of motion of a throw.

At Parity Martial Arts & Wellness, along with a great matted area we also have a large crash mat that makes accepting the falls even easier, safer, and more fun. It let's both partners train effectively.

We have been exploring the Kime no kata lately here in Southampton.

Kime no kata has been on the agenda lately. Originating around 1888, this kata captures the "Forms of Real Fighting" fading in Japan during that time. Judo is not just a sport, but the preservation of historical combat methods. 🥋🇯🇵

Kime no kata training.

We have to cover all aspects of Judo not just the modern sport, grading syllabus and common throws.

Sometimes it's good to explore the more traditional style of martial arts.

And who doesn't want to learn how to hold a bokken (wooden sword) properly?!
