To be clear, the documented accounts of atrocities from IDF and IOF members and their heinous dispositions are extensive. Operation Cast Lead is thoroughly documented in the book Gaza from Dr. Finkelstein. It includes many accounts such as this from 2008 and 2009. Israel's own internal documents reveal a strategy of deterrence which hinges on committing violent acts or playing the part of "a mad dog" against vulnerable populations, because the military cannot withstand an actual adversarial military. Those who have defended the ongoing genocide are ignorant of anything that came before October 7th, 2023. Whether that is willful or not is difficult to say given the prevalence of Israeli propaganda in the US media.
