British International 420 Class

British International 420 Class The British 420 Class Association supports the 420 class in the UK The 420 is an established performance two person trapeze and spinnaker racing dinghy.

There are 56,000 worldwide. This popular dinghy is sailed at school, club, open, national and international levels. There are many second hand boats available, active clubs and excellent tuition for all levels. Built in buoyancy tanks
make the boat very safe even when inverted. The 420 is a youth development boat in the UK and in 42 other countries, and despite the emergence of newer commercially

driven classes and asymmetrics, the 420 is still the top youth training boat. Most of the World's top sailors started in this class and easily moved on to succeed in other classes.

The ULTIMATE combination of sailing and social⛵️🕺

After 3 tight days of racing in the waters of Torbay, last night drew an end to our epic event, hosted by 🚀

With wet and wild weather on almost all the races, sailors and boats have been well and truly battered and tested, bringing some of the best quality racing of the year💪

Congratulations to our event winners - Neil & David🏆

Full results coming in the next post👊

As always, a HUGE thank you to ALL of our sponsors for helping make some of the best racing in the UK possible, in particular Gill and Xtremity Sports for your continued support throughout the whole season🙏🙌

This event concludes the 420 circuit for 2025-26, and what a season it’s been. From the Itchenor GP last September, through so many brilliant venues over the winter, to HISC for the Youth Nationals, and on to Biscarrosse and Nida for team GBR, it’s been a big one👊

For many of our sailors, this will also mark the end of their 420 sailing journeys - we hope you’ve had as much of a blast as we have🚀 The 420 class is well and truly the place to be for youth sailing in the UK, and you guys are the reason why🫡 As with everything in the world of sailing, we know this isn’t goodbye forever, and we can’t wait to see what everyone gets up to next🤙

For those that are sticking around and those just about to join us, the 2026-27 season will kick off with our first event in Itchenor SC at the end of this month, so we’ll see you all there😎

Day 1️⃣ of the Gill 420 British National Championships in was 🔥🔥🔥

With a building breeze from 10 to 30kts through 3 intense, edge-of-your-seat races, the fleet certainly settled into their groove for the first day of racing😎

50 420s battled it out on the waters of Torbay, with spectacular capsizes all round, even from some of our veterans, leaving a mixed but tight leaderboard heading into the next few days🚀

Thanks to all our race management, safety & volunteer teams for keeping it going💪

Day 2️⃣ is set to take it up a notch…are you ready😜
