We are very proud to support the Solent Seagrass restoration, part of Solent Seascape Project.
From the team at Calshot - Anton, Ben, Zofia, Ellie and Jack all volunteer with the Solent Seagrass Project run by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. The tasks were varied and involved collecting seagrass seeds last December, educating others, joining on intertidal surveys, learning to be survey leaders themselves and planting new seagrass meadows, one of those meadows is even at Calshot!
In just one weekend, the team of 17 volunteers planted 56600 seagrass seeds at Calshot! 😍🌱🥳

We restoring and reconnecting seagrass, oyster reefs, saltmarsh and seabird nesting habitats across the Solent’s seascape
The project is the first of its kind in the UK: in partnership with ten different organisations, we will work collectively with local communities to co-develop an ambitious recovery plan for the Solent, actively restoring and reconnecting critical coastal habitats to create a thriving, functioning seascape for all.”
