⭐DRESSAGE THROUGH CAVALETTI: POLES WITH PURPOSE - Sunday 4th October at Ekko HQ⭐

We are bringing back one of our pole & cavaletti clinics - with a real focus on using poles and cavaletti to support the scales of training , enhance the horse’s overall way of going & connection between horse and rider.

Would you like to improve your horse’s rhythm and balance , develop greater suppleness & engagement or improve their responsiveness to your aids? Carefully selected exercises can really be a vaulable addition to your training .

This won’t be about making pole layouts increasingly complicated or simply getting from one exercise to the next. Every exercise will have a clear purpose, with the focus remaining on the quality of the connection between horse and rider and improving the horse’s overall way of going.

Sessions are suitable for horses and riders at all levels, with every exercise adapted to suit the individual combination.

Sessions will be with Rebecca Bates - former GB team rider, British Dressage UKCC Level 3 Coach, BD Youth & Para Coach, BEF NDPCE Coach and 2017 BHS Coach of the Year. Spaces can be booked through the event link below

What a brilliant few days judging at the BD Nationals!!

I honestly have to pinch myself that this is really what im doing. 😍

What a privilege to be asked to judge here, along side people who ive looked up to for my entire dressage career!

I just think to myself sometimes, if that shy little girl who was 15 years old, struggling academically, believed she was stupid and thought being dyslexic meant theyd never get anywhere in life..... if she could see herself now she would be so proud!

Hacking is already an important part of our horses’ weekly routine, but we’ll be incorporating even more of it over the winter months as we focus on their training, strength and conditioning.

It gives them a change of scenery, keeps their minds fresh and adds plenty of variety alongside their arena work. Moving over different terrain and gradients also helps to develop their balance, coordination and overall strength. 🐴

Fantastic day at Solihull Riding Club Championships today for two of my youth riders, Alice with Amber and Poppy with Taz! 🐴

The girls placed in every class they entered, with Poppy taking the win in Prelim B and Alice coming home with a 2nd in Prelim B , 7th and a win in the Veteran Prelim 1 class!

So lovely to see all their hard work paying off - super proud of both girls and their ponies! ❤️👏

To my darling Otto 🤍

I honestly don’t know how to put into words how much you meant to us or how much you are already missed. 💔

For 12 years you were my best friend and such a huge part of our family and Team Ekko. You were there through so many chapters of our lives - from our wedding, where you played ball so much you passed out and had to have a bucket of water thrown over you 🤣, to welcoming Summer and Arna into our family.

You were the yard welcome committee, camp helper, escaped-horse police 🫣 and chief cleaner of the girls’ cereal spillages. And of course, you were never far away from a tennis ball, usually wedging it between somebody’s knees until they gave in and threw it for you.

You were loved by so many people and even had your favourites amongst the horses, especially your beloved Eddy. 🤍

The house and yard feel incredibly empty without you.

Thank you for 12 years of love, loyalty and so many memories. ❤️

Sleep tight, my beautiful boy. We will miss you forever. 🤍🐾

A poem for our special boy…

A True Gentleman

The stable path is quiet now,
The barn aisle feels so wide,
Without our gentle Otto dog
to wander by our side.

An equestrian farm of rolling green,
he ruled it with such grace,
A true and steady character
no other could replace.

From morning grooming in the stalls
to evenings with the crew,
he watched our family grow,
a loyal friend and true.

And at the salon on the grounds,
he held a special chair,
welcoming clients with a nudge,
a loved companion there.

The clients ask, the horses wait,
the farmhouse misses you,
Our dapper, sweet, and gentle gent,
whose golden heart shone through.

Rest easy now, dear Otto dog
Across the fields you roam,
The sweetest soul we ever loved,
The heartbeat of our Ekko home. 🤍

We have some exciting news!

🐴Team Ekko are expanding - we are now running the dressage competitions at the fabulous Newbold Verdon Equestrian Centre.

🏆We are still very much at Weston lawns too so dont worry! Nothing changing there! Apart from even more major shows in 2027 including BD summer Area Festivals 🎊

🐎We are very excited to work along side the already amazing team at NVEC and cant wait to bring some new ideas in. So if youve got anything you want to see there then please do comment or drop us a message.
