Southam Albion U16s ⚽️🔴⚫️

On Friday night we enjoyed a much deserved celebration and end of season presentation for this fantastic football team!

It has been a real privilege to coach and manage these players. Thank you, lads, for giving us the opportunity to do so. Achieving 3rd place despite the challenges and injuries we faced this season is nothing short of a miracle… there were games we turned up with only 9 player’s!! We are incredibly proud of the resilience they showed to keep fighting until the end of the season.

While some well-deserved individual awards were given, we always remember that football is a team sport. Every single player in this squad deserves recognition for their achievements this season, so we celebrated all of them on the night, including those who couldn’t make it. Well done, lads. We are extremely proud of you all!

On behalf of the Committee, Coaches, and Players at Southam Albion FC, we extend our gratitude for the ongoing support from our members, sponsors, local businesses, and parents this season. Thank you! 🙏🏻

All of the lads played fantastic but it was Sammy who orchestrated the game from the heart of the pitch. He dictated the rhythm of the game with finesse and authority.

From the opening whistle, Sammy was in a class of his own, effortlessly gliding across the field to intercept passes, launch pinpoint through balls, and shield the defense with great positioning. His vision was unreal, threading passes through tight spaces and unlocking the opposing defense with ease.

In an action-packed match between Hillmorton FC and Southam Albion FC, we were treated to a thrilling display of grassroots football on Tuesday night.

The game kicked off with Hillmorton FC taking the lead against the run of play in the 11th minute with a well-worked goal. However, The Albion responded strongly, tweaked their formation and went on to find the equaliser in the 29th minute with a fantastic team goal; Overturned by Sammy who then split the defence with a through ball to Jesse, who cut it back across the face of goal for Reece to finish. Class 👏🏻… Something we have worked on so many times. Football is easy when you do not overcomplicate it 🫶🏻⚽️🔴⚫️

The Albion then took the lead just a minute later with another strike from Reece, this time into the top corner giving the keeper no chance from close range.

As the first half came to a close, we held a slender 1-2 lead heading into the break, setting the stage for an exciting second half.

𝐇𝐓 𝟏-𝟐

Hillmorton came out firing in the second half and managed to level the score early on with a goal in the 46th minute, setting the stage for a tense and closely contested remainder of the match.

In the 53rd minute, The Albion regained the lead with a sweetly struck goal from Bayley, putting us back in the driver's seat as the match entered its final stages. The goal was created following some great pressure from the front to overturn possession 👏🏻

Despite both teams pushing for more goals, the score remained 2-3 in favor of The Albion until the final whistle, capping off a fantastic match that was a true advertisement for grassroots football. Credit to both teams for their spirited performance and for providing parents, spectator’s & coaches with an entertaining game of football.

In a game filled with grit and determination, Freddie’s tenacity stood out. With unwavering commitment and a warrior-like spirit, Freddie, despite managing an injury for several weeks, still turns up every week and gives absolutely everything for this team - The true essence of teamwork and dedication.

From the first to the final whistle, Freddie gave nothing less than 100% for the team. Battling tirelessly in midfield, he fought for every loose ball, overturned the possession on countless occasions and never shied away from a challenge.

The Albion performed admirably today, maintaining discipline and executing the game plan perfectly for the first 50 minutes. Despite the squad's depth starting to show as the game went on, the team remained a threat until the final whistle.

In the first half, the Albion played a strong game, with Reece scoring the opening goal after just 6 minutes. The team remained compact, well-organised, worked tirelessly, and continued to pose a threat, but just failed to take advantage of their opportunities to double their advantage.

𝐇𝐓 𝟏-𝟎

At the start of the second half, Racing Club showed their mettle and scored an equaliser after 45 minutes. The game became more open, with the next goal being decisive. Unfortunately for the Albion, Racing Club scored again after 65 minutes to take the lead, and then delivered a sucker punch with another goal after 73 minutes to make it 1-3.

The Albion still had chances to score, but just didn’t quite have that bit of luck to convert them. Despite being another player down compared to the previous cup match against Racing Club, the team showed significant improvement in our performance. If only the team had a recognised goalkeeper available more and more depth in the squad (subs 😂!), who knows what might have been possible this season.

Regardless, the Albion are proud of the players' commitment and effort today - They gave their all and could not have done more 🤝🔴⚫️.

The team extends its best wishes to Racing Club as they seek to become league champions in their final game 🤝🏆.
