Amir (OBA/Durham) and Tahmid (Kingston badminton club hull./Yorkshire) have reached the semi final of the Leicestershire Super Cup badminton tournament today at Beauchamp College, Leicester.

We couldn’t be any happier or prouder of them both as they narrowly lost 25–23 to a very good Sourthern team, but what they achieved today is something truly special.

It has been a pleasure to help host and participate in the Men’s 1st Doubles Badminton Tournament, organised and sponsored by the Greater Sylhet Development & Welfare Council UK – South Shields Branch.

The tournament featured two categories, catering for both Beginners and Advanced players, providing a fantastic opportunity for everyone to compete and enjoy the sport.

A huge congratulations to all the players, and a special well done to the Ocean Badminton Academy juniors and beginners for yet another outstanding performance. Your hard work, dedication, and progress continue to make us proud.

Thank you to everyone who helped organise, support, and take part in making the event such a success. Looking forward to many more tournaments together!

Congratulations to Ali & Belal

A massive congratulations to Ali and Belal on reaching the Semi Finals of the Ekota Senior National Badminton Tournament in Oldham on 7th July 2026.

After some outstanding performances throughout the tournament, they were narrowly defeated by a very strong pair who went on to become the tournament champions.

You have done yourselves, Ocean Badminton Academy, and the North East proud.

A fantastic session with our juniors yesterday, featuring 4 different coaching experiences led by 4 amazing volunteers.

Each coach brought their own style, ideas, and approach but everyone shared the same goal, helping our juniors learn, improve, and enjoy the game.

A huge thank you to all 4 coaches for giving your time, energy, and support. Your involvement makes a real difference to the next generation of players.

Half term inter club tournament, some great games played throughout the evening.

Today’s tournament was all about building confidence and giving players the opportunity to see where they are in a competitive environment.

Well done to everyone who took part, it was a privilege to watch you all compete. It was unbelievable how many 3 enders were played during the evening.

A big thank you as well to all the spectators for your support and encouragement throughout the event.
