September…New month? New routine?
Has the summer holidays completely knocked your usual routine off track?
Late nights, days out, holidays, kids being off school and a much more relaxed schedule can make it really difficult to stay consistent with training, steps, meals and all those healthy habits you normally have in place.
And that's OK!
Lots of people look for a good time to reset and September is the perfect opportunity to do that. Let’s reset, refocus and start building your routine again.
BUT here's the important bit… don't try to change everything overnight.
You don't need to go from doing very little to training 6 days a week. You don't need to completely overhaul your diet. And you definitely don't need to be perfect.
I’ve spoken loads this week about perfectionism and how that might actually be the thing that kills your motivation, goals and success. Look to make progress rather than creating perfection. Perfection can result in you giving up the moment you don’t hit a certain goal or target. However, making clear progress and tracking your goals each day will create motivation to make you want to keep going!
Try focus on small, realistic changes that you can actually stick to. That could look something like this:
•Aim for 3 training sessions a week
•Increase your daily steps gradually
•Plan and prep a few days of meals at a time
•Get your gym clothes ready the night before
•Make drinking more water part of your daily routine
Remember,
Small changes become habits. Habits become routine. And routine creates long term results.
So if September feels like your chance for a fresh start, don't wait until Monday! Start with one small change today.
We have spaces available for our group sessions. Drop me a message if you’re interested in joining us. We’re supportive, welcoming and although we will push you, you’ll leave thinking you’re glad you came!
