Important Infoβ¦
Iβve been looking into developing The Monthly Mile over the last few months with possible new routes, with the aim of making it quicker & safer for runners.
This has been a tricky process & unfortunately the demands of meeting the criteria for a UK Athletics race have started to become too much for the scale of the event.
The run was always intended to be a fun run, and Iβm looking to change the format & make it a more club fun run based event with Run Eat Sleep.
I understand that this will not suit the competitive club runners that take part for the UKA rankings & race results.
Iβd like to thank all runners, clubs & running groups for their fantastic support & will be happy to refund those that have signed up for the 2025 series if they do not wish to take part in the new format. Please email [email protected] and I will process these shortly.
Going forward, the hope is to return to being a more fun & inclusive event & to involve more people within the club & guests will be most welcome, as always.
Friends, families, & children can take part too (either in a running, volunteering or spectating/supporting role)
The run will still be timed, with results made available & it will have a similar format with the volunteer team supporting the event.
The plan is to organise it on the first Wednesday of the month as it used to be with an optional group warm up run from 6.15pm, a start time of 6.45pm & a social afterwards at a local pub from just after 7pm.
We aim to bring back a league table for the year - with runners scoring points for overall position, running consecutive events in a row & for volunteering.
The leading 3 male/female runners over the course of the series will be awarded with prizes at the end of the year & Iβd like to get Monthly Mile medals for all runners over the course of the series to be handed out in December.
More details regarding the new format & start dates to be announced shortlyβ¦ π
