1861 Lifestyle Centre Welcome to the 1861 Lifestyle Centre at STC. We have a range of gym memberships and are open to anyone over the age of 14.

We have a fully equipped gym with 14 cardio machines, resistance machines and a free weight area. There is always a fully qualified staff member on duty to answer any enquiries.

Prices for the public are:
1 month - £10
3 months - £25
6 months - £50
1 month concession (over 60s) - £6
6 months concession (over 60s) - £30
Pay as you go - £2.50

Opening times for the public are:
Monday to Friday - 6am to 6pm
Saturday and Sunday - 6am to 12noon

The gym is open to anyone over the age of 14.

The 1861 Lifestyle Centre is now located in the grounds of Dr Winterbottom Hall and is open for business. Below are some photos of the new gym located in 3 different rooms. It is open to the general public for the following prices: 1 month - £10, 3 months - £25, 6 months - £50, 1 month (over 60s) - £6, 6 months (over 60s) - £30. The 1861 Lifestyle Centre will be closed from Monday 30th June to Wednesday 2nd July. It is moving premises and will re-open at a site within Dr. Winterbottom Hall student accommodation on Thursday 3rd July.

Start your fitness journey for 2025 at South Tyneside College 1861 Lifestyle Centre gym. It is open to the general public. The age minimum to join is 14, and there are various great value for money memberships that can be taken, from £10 for 1 month up to £95 for 1 year. Any two people who live at the same address can join for £140 for 1 year, and we have a concessionary membership for over 60s for £55 a year. The gym also has changing rooms with showers and free car parking. It is open 7 days a week from 6am to 10pm (closes at 9pm on weekend evenings). All members must have an induction before joining up.
