In my early years, I was what you'd call a "scrawny little kid." Tall, yes, but turn me sideways, and I practically disappeared!

Growing up in Zimbabwe, I had the privilege of playing tons of sports - a real perk of my childhood. But here's the twist: despite often towering over my competitors, I was always the skinny one. My eating habits back then were a rollercoaster - either I'd forget to eat because I was busy, or I'd devour more than my 6ft 2 father (who happened to weigh about 105kgs at the time). Balance? Nope, not in my vocabulary. πŸ™ˆπŸ”

Back then, the β€˜in look’ was all about the "skinny ideal," with its teeny-tiny waists and the elusive cleavage that could hide a credit card. I nailed the skinny part (cleavage, not so much - surgery might be the only hope there! πŸ˜‚), but fast forward 6 years as a personal trainer, and I'm strong, and I feel the best I ever have. πŸ’ͺπŸ’

I've chucked the scale and embraced measuring progress by performance. Younger me was pretty decent at sports, but let's be honest, I was as weak! I banked on being fast, plucky and determined- it worked. πŸƒπŸ’¨

But now, being strong? It's a whole new ballgame. πŸ€πŸ’₯

With a jam-packed schedule and a busy life, fitting in workouts and eating right can be a real puzzle. 🧩 But on those days when it all feels impossible, I remind myself of the journey - how scrawny little Jess worked her tail off to build herself up, even sculpting an actual butt instead of the pancake I used to have! πŸ‘

Remember, everything takes time. This 8-year transformation has its twists and turns, and I'm not quite where I want to be yet but as long as I stay on this track, I'm happy. The journey continues!
