North Molton 1st Withdraw

It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the immediate withdrawal of North Molton 1st from the league.

The club has stated: "Our management team have found it increasingly difficult to secure enough players to fulfil fixtures. Unfortunately, our hopes of achieving sufficient player commitment have not materialised."

As a result, their records will be expunged from the division and the club removed from the league.

I am aware that some players are requesting transfers. Therefore, any member club wishing to sign a North Molton player may proceed with a transfer. No seven days’ notice is required to North Molton, and no fee is payable.

This is yet another sign of the times, reflecting challenges faced not only here but across the county and beyond. It is a real shame that North Molton could not continue, though it was certainly not for lack of effort.

We wish all the volunteers at North Molton the very best in their future endeavours, and we hope to see the club reform stronger in the future

👍⚽

RESULTS:

A competitive match on Saturday saw The Stags lose 6-3 away to Braunton 1st in the North Devon Premier. This was a tricky match in the conditions, but the lads showed great attitude and commitment and played good football throughout. Dan Anjos impressed with a hattrick of well taken goals.

2 games in a weekend was always going to be an uphill battle with our current resources as we hosted Lifton in the Pickard Cup. But, Sunday’s first half performance was very poor to say the least. We made it easy for the travelling side, gifting them 5 goals in the first half and failing to convert any of our chances. We reset at half time and dominated the second half but were only able to score 1 goal through Jordan Roberts. The scoreline should have looked very different due to a host of missed chances, hitting the woodwork, and clearances off the line from the away side but we were unable to recover from a poor start.

The Stags bad luck continues. Another match abandoned due to a serious injury 😔

We had a very competitive match against AFC Dumnonii, a tight game with some great performances from the lads but the hosts were leading 2-0 due to a defensive error and a deflected cross - that’s football.

It’s a real shame that the match was abandoned due to a serious injury to Minty (the result will stand as there was 86 mins on the clock). In a freak accident, Minty suffered a double leg break and he stayed in hospital over night to be operated on this morning. A real shame as this has ended his football career and he handled the situation brilliantly through out.

Thank you very much to AFC Dumnonii and the people at Marlborough Park for their support and best wishes to Minty.

We’re all with you Minty - we wish you all the best 💛💙🦌

The Stags exit the Devon Premier Cup in the second round against a tidy Newton Abbot Spurs side. We were up against it with illness in the squad meaning 3 players (all defenders!) pulling out yesterday morning as they were bed bound. This left us with a makeshift defence.

We started well and were competitive for the first 20 minutes. Then the real turning point was losing our keeper with a straight red in the first half. The home side then kicked on and utilised the extra man well and scored a handful of goals in the second half. Our goal came from the spot from a trademark Giffy pen (not sure how it went in).

Back to league action next week as we look to bounce back.
