For those of you who don't know who Jennifer Purcell is allow us to introduce you.
Jennifer is one of the most infectious people in the local cycling scene, being instrumental in the building of the Wroughton pump track and is always hosting some sort of pump track session or teaching kids how to ride a bike.
She makes cycling cool for kids !!
Below are some words from Jen who recently took on the task of fundraising to get more kids wearing helmets. We absolutely smashed the target thanks to the generosity of our friends and customers.
We're privileged to have built a lasting relationship with our friend and customer Jennifer ♥️🤙
A few weeks ago I started a fundraiser to buy some helmets for a group of lads who ride regularly but don't have head protection. These kids are always so lovely, giving up the track without a fuss for my SEN group, and always polite and chatty. One had said that to spend £40 on a helmet was the equivalent of his family weekly shop. The response from you all was mind blowing and this week we were able to start handing them out!
Thank you so much to everyone who donated. The lads were blown away and couldn't believe they got to take home these great full face helmets. We made your money count thanks to at who supplied the helmets at cost price. Mark and the team are developing a great relationship with the riders at the track, and will always help the kids out if they take a mechanical into the shop 🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Thank you also to for their generous donation. The Wheelers are a fabulous local club, and although they don't tend to focus on BMX and pump track riding, they've shown immense support to these young riders 🙏🏼
Some kids can feel claustrophobic in a full face, so thanks to Jo at , .mullen.79 and the Burrows family, we have a selection of lovely brand new half lids to give out.
We've sent a few helmets out already with a little note from the shop for the parents. I think the weather this week meant there weren't as many kids out. One boy said to me that he hadn't been riding much after his friend crashed and got concussion. He was so stoked that his new helmet means that he can get back on the track.
So from me, from Mark and especially from the kids..... THANK YOU ❤️❤️❤️
