Headed over to Preston to visit a great customer of ours Find Your Way Fitness | Preston to support their Hyrox Sim.

Great to catch up with Ryan and great to have a run through of mixed doubles with Sophie Grimbleby

Ryan is some character and put on a great event which we really enjoyed - thanks for having us 🙏.

But in all seriousness I just love seeing how everyone gets involved in these events and how the hard work of the gym owners and their volunteers comes together - Great job team Find Your Way Fitness | Preston 👏

Racing wise - the next 7 weeks will start to see a really heavy run focus. A little over a month ago I couldn’t see a way back - but slowly I’m piecing my run back together but still lots of work to be done.

Debut outing with Tom Widd MOVEMENT. GAMES

A comp which Core Strength | Premium Equipment & Gym Designs sponsored and we was very grateful to play a small part in such a well organised and ran event by Esme Hall Personal Training.

I love competing still 🙏

Nice way to start the racing season.

Still a really long way from where I once was and where I want to be, but really enjoying the build back to full fitness.

I take a huge amount of satisfaction in raising these younger athletes like we have over the last few years and Tom has and will be another bi-product of that - watch this space 👀.

Today marks the last day for Danny Uscroft-Mould working with the core group.

It’s been some ride eh coach. It’s been a pleasure to be part of your life journey, helping you grow both professionally and personally. Getting to know you and your family.

We’ve travelled the world and had some unforgettable experiences in such a short space of time - what a laugh we have had.

Your efforts for the core group won’t be forgotten, nor will the horrible workouts we’ve put ourselves through the last couple years 🥵, but more importantly I’ll miss the friendship, camaraderie and support we’ve had for each other day in day out.

I made you a promise on day one that we will make a machine out of you both as an athlete, a coach and a professional in the fitness industry. I think we achieved that ✅. But you also promised me you will give your role at the core group everything you have, and you certainly did that too ✅. You’ve become a great leader.

I wish you the best of luck in everything you do, but winners don’t need luck, they earn and deserved good things that happen to them.

I refuse to believe this is the last we will see of us both working together professionally, I know it won’t be the last personally and racing together but life has a funny way of bringing people together.

Watch this space.

Good luck to those racing IRONMAN Triathlon Copenhagen tomorrow.

It’s an unbelievable race course and atmosphere is electric on the run.

Pack plenty of spares and gas, I got 4 punctures on the bike course 😱

9 hours 51 minutes that day back in 2023. Not bad for a hybrid athlete trying his hand at triathlon 😉.

The bikes become a popular substitute for running or a way to add additional training volume without the impact.

The problem is, most don’t really know how to use it, so end up doing long plods in “zone 2” hoping it will improve their overall aerobic capacity.

It won’t.

Most are either biking too easy, or short bursts that are too hard.

If you want to use the bike effectively, you need to get an idea of where your turning points lie. LT1 and LT2. Then train with the right stimulus to effect which one you are trying to improve. That involves the right intervals at the right duration or intensity, or knowing what watts you should be at for your long steady state aerobic work.

Either an FTP test or access to lactate testing is the best way to start.

NB DO NOT work from your standard heart rate zones.

Got big goals this year with my mixed doubles partner Sophie Grimbleby

Sub 54 and a spot at the hyrox worlds in Hong Kong being the main long term goal.

In 11 weeks time we race for the first time at Hyrox Birmingham to put a line in the sand and see what needs work.

My injury is slowly (I mean slowly) improving 🙏

This weeks workout:

500m ski
50m sled pull
80m BBJ
500m row
100m lunges
1000m bike
100 wall balls

2 mins rest repeat x 4

The aim is to get faster each round.

Round 1 15:51
Round 2 15:40
Round 3 15:32
Round 4 15:21

Paced by Danny Uscroft-Mould and who pushed us all the way 🥵.
