HEAD COACH WANTED - FLAG 16+ PROGRAMME

Somerset Wyverns Flag needs a Head Coach who's ready to take ownership and build something lasting.

2026 is a rebuilding year. No league pressure. Just the opportunity to shape a programme your way and build toward competitive 2027 entry.

What You'll Do:
🟥 Build and lead your own coaching staff
🟨 Appoint your Team Manager
◻️ Network with clubs across the region for scrimmages and joint training
◼️ Organise some competitive opportunities for the summer of 2026
🟥 Drive recruitment and create a team culture that people want to be part of
🟨 Make flag football fun, competitive, and inclusive

What You'll Get:

🟥 Clear objectives and Committee support
🟨 Budget for travel, events, and equipment
◻️ Facilities and strategic backing
◼️ Freedom to build the programme properly
🟥 A clean slate to prove what Wyverns Flag can be

Who We're Looking For:

Someone with leadership experience - could be from coaching other sports, teaching, playing at a high level, or managing teams in any context.

Flag football experience helps but isn't essential. Programme leadership skills are what matter. If you can recruit, organise, and inspire people, we'll support you with the technical knowledge.

This isn't about experience. It's about commitment and vision.

We've had two absolutely massive practice sessions already this month — the biggest January turnout in club history — and we're not slowing down.

If you've been sitting on the fence, watching from the sidelines, or waiting for the "right time" to try American Football... this is it.

16+ Flag Football – 10:00–12:00
U16 & U19 Contact – 10:00–12:00
18+ Contact – 12:00–15:00

SOMERSET WYVERNS HITTING THE WATER! 🐉💦

First we announced Wyverns would be running a half marathon in pads. Now we're trading the gridiron for the swimming pool!

Our Wyverns are taking the plunge at the Taunton Swimathon 2026 (14-15 Feb) to support three incredible local charities:

The Somerset Wyverns stepped into their very first flag football season with heart, grit, and belief. Many had never played the sport before, yet in a short space of time this team was scoring touchdowns, standing strong on defence, and going toe-to-toe with experienced opponents. Two victories in our debut season is something to be proud of. A solid foundation is set, and the future is bright.

Another tourney, another Wyverns win! In just our first rookie season, this squad keeps getting better — and it showed at Llanishen RFC, Cardiff this weekend 💪
Your MVPs from a huge day in Wales:

🏈 Offensive MVP — Charlie Spear
6 TDs slung on the day, absolute cannon for an arm, and a calm head under pressure. First season playing competitively, now QB’ing for the Bristol Aztecs U19 too. Big future ahead!

🛡️ Defensive MVP — Dom Owen
3-time MVP. 2x Defensive, 1x Tournament. A defensive menace — with a pick 6, multiple PBUs and relentless hustle all day long.

🔥 Tournament MVP — Adam Abraham
4 sacks, an interception, and the energy. Led from the front on the field and off it — hyping the sideline and shifting the momentum early with a huge defensive stand vs Plymouth (who we went on to smash 39-8!)
