This week is Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK Drowning Prevention Week. Solihull Swim Stars are proud to support this highly important initiative.
All of our swimming lessons are carefully planned and delivered to ensure swimmers are learning how to keep themselves and others safe around & in water.
Back in March, our swimmers took part in our own Water Safety Week. This was filled with activities designed to teach swimmers how to keep themselves safe, and also others safe.
We are proud to be supporting Drowning Prevention Week during swimming lessons this week, and further focus will be given to these key water safety messages ahead of the upcoming summer holidays! 🌊☀️🏊♂️🛟
In 2024 alone, 249 lives were lost to accidental drowning across the UK and Ireland.
We believe that class-based water safety education should be accessible to all children regardless of background. Our goal is to equip every family with the knowledge to stay safe in, on, and around water.
On Tuesday, 17 June, RLSS UK will host an event at Westminster with MPs and partners to highlight the urgent need for water safety education in schools. We are calling for its formal inclusion in the National Curriculum’s RHSE guidance for England.
