Fieldhouse leave it late

T’House were in a tough battle, with going a goal down early on. A free kick saw a smart save from Oliver. The scramble in the area saw a pen given. House were annoyed and will look to VAR later to confirm. Oliver read the penalty right, but it nestled in the side netting.

House piled on the pressure. Hitting the post and having several chances go begging at the back post. But didn’t have wait long to equalise. Taylor working hard and earning a good bounce into his own path, to slot home.

House went 2-1 up with Neil Bennett finally scoring at the far post. Finishing off a great cross from Jack Grigg.

House worked hard to keep a lead during a great spell of AG Milan pressure. But only forcing one save from Oliver, which was right out of top drawer off a deflection.

The second half was scrappy with few moments of note. But an equaliser came for Milan. Cole Stephens working extremely hard with 4 slide tackles. Until he tried a a 60 yard pass back on a stretch which didn’t have a prayer. Leaving their winger to finish.

Cole did redeem himself. With more tireless work, forcing an error from the keeper, battling through 2 defenders and finishing in the final minute.

AG had a few opportunities in the final minute but didn’t test. Missing from 6 yards with the final kick.

House come out 4-1 winners on opening day.
House opened the season with a first minute goal. After winning the ball high up the pitch. Henry Branston shifted the ball wide to Neil Bennett who pulled back to George Taylor to go 1-0 up.
Branston then made it 2-0 shortly after, latching onto a through ball, cutting inside and finishing inside the keeper.
House made it 3 after Si had a shot and with Taylor got out of the way to see the shot nestle bottom corner. The flag went up and the ref was steadfast that Taylor was not interfering as was well out of the keepers eye line. The ref the got shouted at and changed his mind. A pre cursor of what was the come perhaps.
Directly from this, Lions caught house napping, seeing their striker nip in with the ball holding up in the 8 inch grass and finish beyond Oliver in goal. Luckily house were able to restore their cushion soon after, as Branston was hauled down in the area and Taylor finished the pen in the absence of Oakes.

The second half saw Lions get back into the game, with a few individual moments of ability from their 9 and wide players. But Oliver in the House goal was well defended by Locker and Reilly, Tom. He was however called upon to make what might already be save of the season in game 1. A ball to the back post. Pulled back across goal, volley to the top corner from 6 yards out but with his body contorting in the air to touch it over the bar.

House the lost their skipper, as *REDACTED* (please don’t fine us) showed yet again how big of a liability he is to player safety. Allowing more and more of the game to get scrappy, and a horror tackle being put in on Aaron Dunkley. His ankle is currently the size of a Madri glass and we wish for his speedy return. *REDACTED* gave only a caution and risked the game becoming chaos as everyone was granted a free leg breaker.

House did manage to get a 4th with Branston converting from a scramble after a corner. Whilst lions had a few shots to test Oliver but he was equal to them with his back line defending valiantly as well. They did have a shout for a goal with hitting the post, the Oliver’s heel, but he managed to recover to claw it back on the line. The Lions players in the box knew it wasn’t over the line. However the subs and back line were apoplectic, screaming that it was clearly over, the Lions players in the box admonished their team mates for their incessant moaning. Ironically, House had one spectacularly cleared off the line mere seconds later, with Anthony Taylor knocking round the keeper. The house players applauded the effort from the lions defender.

The game ended with Oliver making a stupendous save, catching a well hit strike into the top bag at full stretch. With *REDACTED* blowing for full time.

We have a game tomorrow. Who against you ask? Admin genuinely does not know. Where? Admin again is unsure and will check at 10:00 when leaving for the 9:45 meet. Will it be good to play football again? May as well I guess.

Pic for attention is one of our MOTM awards from last year that didn’t get posted because admin is lazy

House accidentally win again to go into the final stretch with a shot at promotion to the championship. House had a goal chalked off due to standard questionable Sunday league lino play. And went 1-0 down in the second despite dominating the game and all the chances after switching off from a soft free kick and letting the quick free kick catch them out.
The sexiest man in football, Simon Graham got things level again. Some good play leading to a shot from outside the area, that hit the bar, hit the keepers head, hit the bar, then the keepers head, then went in.

We turned to our talisman, fresh from a “heavy night” from the bench to win the points for us. A free kick late on, George Taylor, already bleeding (a tradition in all house wins) took the ball. Firing through the wall to secure the points in the final seconds.

Motm was Neil Bennett yet again. Who pocketed one of the best players in the entire Oakbourne. Fantastic from the boys. Up The Chuffin House

Solihull Tapps 2-1 T’House. Cagey game to start, T’House dug in deep and started strong taking the lead from an outswinging corner from our own Yorkshire pudding to be met by Ant to knock in the delivery for goal snatcher Henry bagsman Branston to claim his 13th goal of the season off the flick on. (Typical striker claiming) Then on House digging in defending well to be caught out by division 1 player of the year ‘the bobble for the assist for Tapps marksman to slot home the leveller. Stand in Goalie Garfield stood strong from a flurry of chances to only biscuit wrist the second for Tapps within minutes. Half Time 2-1. House start the second half strong needing to maintain shape with only 12 shaggers available. Chances a plenty in the second half for the house for only to fall short in the end a courageous effort from the lads deserved more. On to the next one. Man of the match: Ant Taylor (taylor no.2) D.O.D: Ant for confirming he was there and actually not being at the right place.

Been a while. Have a match report. Will it be in depth? Probably not but let’s see how it goes

The first half ended 0-0. Both keepers making fine saves. House had a goal but the first of many “decisions” from the home lino occurred to chalk it off.

The second half had a lot more action. Fieldhouse open the scoring, with the best bit of football they’ve ever played. Some interplay on the right flank, led to a ball across the pitch, dummied by Jake Dunkley to find Berry out wide. He whipped a cross to the pen spot, where Neil Bennett guided a header into the postage stamp.

House doubled the advantage, a tackle from Jas Brainch went 60 yards down the channel where new dad Henry Branston won the race. Leaving the defender in his wake and slotting in the near post.

BC halved their arrears with a great header from a corner into the roof of the net, before equalising with 5 to go with a thunderous volley into the stanchion.

With Henry Branston being flagged for offside all game, sometimes in his own half, it was a draining afternoon for the house faithful. But with seconds to go, a big claim by Fraser Oliver in goal was followed up by a monstrous kick into the channel for Branston. The fans looked to the lino who considered raising it, but ultimately decided it would have been far too egregious to do so there. Branston with work still to do, bullied his way toward goal, rounding the keeper and slotting into the empty net, directing his celebration to the linesman and forgetting his carefully thought out baby based celebration. Or BBC for short.

The ref did forget he said it was inside the final minute and played a further 3, but house defended valiantly. Ending the game with another giant claim from the Jag as BC loaded the box

Our men of the match today were Neil Bennett and Fraser Oliver.

Neil was absolutely tireless, making an impact in both boxes and hitting the post late on at 2-2.

Fraser made some tremendous saves to keep House from going behind.

Thank you to The Fieldhouse for their continued support this season. Hopefully next season we bring back some silverware
