After claiming the GT World Challenge Europe Silver Cup Championship in Barcelona a few weeks ago, Jarrod Waberski Racing joined forces with Barwell Motorsport for a test of the GT3 Lamborghini Huracan at a blustery Snetterton Circuit yesterday.
With the assistance of the Barwell team and Lamborghini Pro Factory Driver Sandy Mitchell Racing, Jarrod made huge improvements during the day in his first ever drive in the multi championship winning car - saving his best laps until the last session.
A great day was had by all. 😁

CLASS WIN AND DOUBLE PODIUM FOR WABERSKI AND HAVERS AT SILVERSTONE

It was a weekend of determination, recovery, and reward for Jarrod Waberski and Mark Havers, as the #58 Topcats Racing Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo2 claimed a GTC class victory and two podium finishes during the GT Cup Championship round at Silverstone from 2–3 August.

Race 1 – Saturday Sprint
Starting 3rd on the grid, Mark Havers got off to a strong start, holding position into Turn 1. However, contact later in the opening lap caused damage to the Lamborghini, sending Havers into a spin and dropping him to the back of the field. After briefly pitting for assessment, he rejoined the race and battled to the finish, ultimately coming home a lap down. It was a frustrating start, but there was more to come.

Race 2 – Saturday Sprint
Jarrod Waberski took the wheel for the second sprint and delivered a sensational drive. Starting from P13, he launched up to 7th on the opening lap and began picking off cars with clinical precision. By the chequered flag, Waberski had climbed to 3rd overall and secured 1st in the GTC class, marking the team’s first win of the weekend in dominant style.

Race 3 – Silverstone 100 Endurance
In Sunday’s 100-minute endurance race, Havers started from 12th on the grid and drove a clean and consistent first stint, holding 15th as the pit window opened. He handed over to Waberski, who rejoined in 11th just as the weather began to shift. With rain falling and track conditions changing, Waberski made the call to stay out on slicks. The gamble paid off, and he came home in 7th overall and 3rd in the GTC class, rounding out a successful weekend with a second podium.

Jarrod Waberski commented:
“Really happy with the progress we made this weekend. Race 2 was a blast, and I’m proud of how we fought back in the endurance race too, especially managing the slicks in tricky conditions. Huge thanks to Mark and everyone at Topcats Racing and T4 Motorsport for their continued support and a great car all weekend long!”

The team now looks ahead with confidence as the GT Cup Championship heads to Donington Park at the end of September.

Sunday was certainly no day of rest!
The day started with a quick free practice for both drivers and then into qualifying for Mark, qualifying the Lambo 5th in class - and again improving his times with increased seat time and expert tuition from Jarrod.
The first race today was the pit stop race - totalling 50 minutes with a driver change during the race. Mark started, and this time quickly found his rhythm, again improving his lap times and going the quickest he had gone all weekend. Unfortunately, a miscalculation of the pit lane window meant that Mark was called to the box to early - a swift driver change was completed and Jarrod was sent on his way - although we knew a penalty was coming. Once we completed the drive through penalty for the error, Jarrod set about chasing down fourth place in class, but time was against him - although the gap was dramatically reduced over 5 laps! 5th place in class was the best we could do.
Thoughts turned to the final race of the weekend - a 25 minute sprint race for Mark.
A spin in the first corner forced Mark to take swift evasive action, while those in the garage each had their own "code brown" moments. Emerging relatively unscathed, Mark joined the train of cars behind the pace car, waiting for the race to resume - in 2nd place in class! Once the race resumed Mark fought hard to maintain his 2nd place but had to settle for 3rd eventually with a few laps to go - and even with a quick trip to the pits with a puncture scare - Mark got back on track and bought the #58 home in 3rd - for his first podium and the second trophy of the weekend for the #58 crew.
Not a bad way to start in the GT Cup. Massive thanks to the team for the work completed to get the car ready for the event - and to Jarrod for his support, advice and data analysis - allowing Mark to continually improve.
Thanks to GT Cup for a great weekend and a warm welcome and thanks to I & L Photography for the images.
Time for a beer!

That’s the end of our first day in the GT Cup Championship at Snetterton. And it was quite a day.
Heavily influenced by the weather, the day started with Jarrod Waberski Racing qualifying the #58 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Evo 2 second in class - and managed to maintain that position to the end of the race. Our first podium in our first race. Not a bad start.
As the clouds turned increasingly menacing, race two, the pitstop race loomed. Mark Havers started the race from P2 on the grid - with much quicker cars and more experienced drivers around him. Despite his best efforts, Mark struggled to get in a rhythm and struggled to get the best from the car. At the pitstop he handed over to Jarrod who, with some blistering laps, managed to get the car up to 4th in class.
Not too bad for our first day in the championship.
We go again tomorrow to try and bag some more silverware.
Thanks to the team for their hard work and to Jakob Ebrey Photography for these images from the day.

A few more from the Sprint Race as we head into the Pitstop race.

After our late start to the GT Cup Championship, Jarrod Waberski Racing proves his pace at Snetterton in the #58 Lamborghini - qualifying 2nd overall in damp conditions - and bringing the car home 2nd overall in the first sprint race - staying out on a wet track on slicks while many pitted for wets.
An outstanding performance today in his first competitive outing in the car.
Pitstop race follows later today - we shall be watching the skies to see what the weather is going to do.
Thanks to I & L Photography for the pics.

After a long and enforced absence from the GT Cup Championship, we return this weekend for the Snetterton rounds.
A rusty Mark Havers and a jubilant Jarrod Waberski Racing - fresh from a GTWC Endurance Silver Cup victory in his GT3 BMW at Monza the past weekend - return in the #58 Super Trofeo Evo 2 - to grab some points and hopefully lots of silverware.
