🎓 Today is A level and T Level Results Day!

Good luck to all our KickFit students receiving their results today. Whatever your results, be proud of the consistent effort that has brought you this far.

Congratulations if you achieved the results needed for your university place, apprenticeship, further training or job. Embrace your next opportunity, remain curious and explore the subjects and experiences that inspire you. Finding something you care about can make learning, and the hard work behind it, much more rewarding.

If your results were not what you hoped for, remember that one set of grades does not define you or determine what you can achieve. Take time to understand your options, listen to good advice and commit fully to your next step.

Martial arts teaches us that progress rarely comes from one perfect performance. It comes from attending consistently, learning from setbacks and trying again. The same qualities that help you succeed in the dojo, including discipline, resilience, perseverance and self belief, can help you succeed in education, work and every part of life.

Let your instructor know how you got on today. We would love to hear about your achievements and your next step.

Here is Kyoshi Ken Pankiewicz’s story:

“My first A level results in 1987 were poor. However, my martial arts training had taught me to persevere. I resat my exams the following year and dramatically improved my results, allowing me to study at the University of Leeds.

At university, I developed the skills and confidence to set up the KickFit Martial Arts schools. That experience became part of a journey which has now lasted 35 years.

As KickFit celebrates its 35th anniversary, we have an outstanding professional instructor team teaching 500 students across seven schools. None of this happened overnight. It was built through consistent effort, resilience and a willingness to keep learning.”

Your results are one moment in your journey. They are not the end of your story.

What could you achieve through consistency, resilience and perseverance?

Why We Practice Self-Defence Skills

1. It builds confidence
Self-defence training is a powerful way to protect yourself and build real confidence — ultimately moulding you into a better, stronger person.

2. It works on your balance
Without balance, it's almost impossible to fight effectively. By developing your body control and balance, you'll be far better prepared to protect yourself when it counts.

3. It helps develop self-discipline
Showing up to class consistently builds genuine discipline — and that discipline extends into every area of your life.

4. It improves your street awareness
Self-defence classes make you more aware of your surroundings. You may never plan to be attacked — but your attacker is the one with a plan. Training keeps you alert at all times and ready to respond, should a situation ever arise.

Why We Practice Forms

Regular practice with consistent effort helps improve muscle tone and breath control.

Learning and practising Forms is not easy. Getting past this 'struggle' and improving step by step is an important lesson. The student develops perseverance and a non-quitting spirit — characteristics that help focus the mind and build a positive spirit.

When done correctly, Forms practice also teaches the development of a clear mind. At the highest levels of practice, practitioners often feel that their bodies are performing the Form without the direction or interference of the conscious mind.

The Form is simply expressed through them.
This mental state is referred to as Mushin, or "no mind".
