We originally designed the moleskin Mill Gilet for ourselves to wear on our stand at Goodwood Revival.

It was inspired by old mechanics’ waistcoats and by the workwear once worn in our own mill. Then customers kept asking for it.

So here it is: a very limited run in Sandstone, Olive and Thunder moleskin.

It is made from what we consider the finest moleskin in the world: a heavy cotton cloth, woven and shorn to create a beautifully soft pile. Naturally breathable, wind-resistant and water-resistant, but still smart enough to behave itself when required.

There’s a deep welted chest pocket big enough for even the largest phone, two generous waist pockets, reinforced seams, heavy-duty keyhole buttonholes and our no-fall-off buttons, wrapped with thermofusion thread.

Off-the-peg or made-to-measure at no extra cost.

This is the Moleskin Work Jacket. Part of the tough fustian family of fabrics, moleskin is one of Britain’s great unsung textiles. Originally woven for hard wear in industrial mills, workshops and out in the fields.

The result - a fabric that is incredibly dense and durable, yet beautifully soft to the touch.

The Director's Cut

Last year, we shared the story of award-winning film director Justin Chadwick, who commissioned a  bespoke McNair jacket.

He had one special request: oversized internal pockets to keep film scripts dry while directing Sierra Madre, a thriller starring Kiefer Sutherland in the highlands of Colombia.

We happily obliged.

What we didn't expect was how many of you would then ask us for exactly the same jacket.

So here it is, finally: The Chadwick Jacket in PlasmaDry cavalry twill.

It features large internal poacher's pockets, two generous chest patch pockets, two jetted hand pockets and an internal chest pocket. Plenty of room for scripts, maps, notebooks, bottles or whatever else the day demands.

Now in production, and just in time for the sort of weather it was designed for. 

Available in Olive, Dark Navy, Old Gold and Black. Off-the-peg or made-to-measure at no extra cost.

The Chadwick Jacket is finally launching.

Originally created as a commission piece for acclaimed film director Justin Chadwick, it was designed to withstand the wet mountains of Colombia — keeping film scripts dry while carrying everyday essentials. Since then, Justin has travelled the world making films, including on Australia’s Gold Coast, accompanied by his trusty jacket.

Designed with several generously sized pockets, the Chadwick jacket offers exceptional storage without compromising on style. Crafted from a lightweight yet remarkably durable cavalry twill, it is weather-resistant, highly practical, and built to last.

Many of you have been in touch asking when this jacket would be available, and we’re delighted to finally announce its online launch at the end of May as a limited-edition release. There will be a made-to-measure option and a choice of 4 colours.
