Hello again everybody,

After some discussions with my bosses at The Frying Yorkshireman we have together curated a plan for a sponsorship of my event.
Amazingly they have offered to supply FREE CHIPS for every entrant along with a donation to help me fund some other aspects of the race! I am incredibly grateful for their generosity and can’t thank them all enough!

If you’re not familiar with The Frying Yorkshireman, they are a traditional fish and chip shop located in Gargrave - perfect for where my race is! I may be biased as I work there, but I think a 4.8 star review on Trip Advisor and the fact they placed in the top 11 for fish and chips in Yorkshire shows just how good they are! If you’re driving past in the upcoming months before the race and fancy testing the waters or having a look at the menu, they’re open 11:30am - 2:00pm for lunch & 4pm - 8pm for tea (in both the takeaway and restaurant). You’ll find a link to the menu below… 😉

If this has enticed you to enter the race, then I encourage you to do so via the link at the bottom to SiEntries. However, if you cannot attend but would still like to be a part of my journey to the World Scout Jamboree then there is also a link to my JustGiving below. Thank you in advance for your help and support! 😊

So thank you everybody, I hope you can all show The Frying Yorkshireman some support and recognition for the help they have given me - I couldn’t be more grateful!

Sorry I’ve been quiet for a while everyone, I’ve been in the midst of GCSE’S! Now that they are over with, I can turn my attention back to my race.

I’m excited to announce that my race is now past the breakeven point with over 60 entrants and so it will definitely be happening. I know however that many of you have said you will enter closer to the time. In order to help me plan and prepare, it would be great if those of you who have been waiting are able to head over to SiEntries to secure your place please. 😊

One of our running friends has spotted and kindly pointed out that the Os Map we shared was only visible if you had a premium OS mapping account (the exact reason we didn't use a Strava link for the map).
So, here are an array of map links, so hopefully we've got you all covered no matter what you use!
On the day of the race to route will be marked with arrows.

The Stone Circle full and half marathons promise a great day out in the Yorkshire Dales on an enjoyably challenging multi-terrain course comprising: fields, footpaths, canal towpaths and a short section of country roads on route round to see the Broughton Stone Circle. A looped course (half = 1 loop, full = 2 loops) with 3 refreshment stations per loop, both races are suitable for runners or long-distance walkers and there are plenty of places for spectators to support you as you make your way round.

Finishers will receive a sustainable medal and the post race recovery refreshment involves Yorkshire tea, home-made cakes and Yorkshire's finest chips at the finish, courtesy of The Frying Yorkshireman, where Erin works.

The Stone Circle races are non-profit, entirely volunteer led races raising funds for Erin to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk 2027. Having been selected following a rigorous selection process, Erin (age 15) is required to fundraise over £3,300 to enable her attendance - this can't just be paid, it has to be fundraised.

Being a runner herself, and from a running family, Erin decided the best way to raise the money was to organise a race for others to enjoy. ....

Erin has designed and organised all aspects of the races from the medals to the route herself and has really enjoyed testing out routes with her parents who are both runners and seasoned event organisers themselves. She is currently the half-marathon course record holder but has laid down the gauntlet to anyone who would like to take that accolade from her....

Why not make a weekend of it? Located in a pleasant village with lots of amenities from a campsite and Premier Inn hotel to various local pubs and hundreds of local places of interest such as Malham or the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to visit nearby, the Stone Circle events make for a great weekend away by yourself, with friends or with family.

Hi, I’m Erin and i’ve been a part of scouting since I was 6 years old as a little beaver scout all the way to now where I’m an Explorer Scout who has been lucky enough to be selected to go to the World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland in the summer of 2027. In order to fund my trip to Poland, I have to raise £3000, which as a 15 year old is an awful lot of money!!!

Running and racing have always been a big part of my life and have been ever since I was very little (as you can see in the photos bellow!). I volunteer and run checkpoints on the Montane Spine and the Haworth Hobble and Yorkshireman Off Road Marathons. My parents organise the Fellsman and Fellsman Dart races and I went on my first race aged just 6 days because my mum was the Event Organiser! My dad organised a marathon and half a few years back called the Baht’at Trail which sadly can’t run anymore but we miss organising a race. So, to complete my fundraising, I have decided to organise this Stone circle Marathon with will hopefully put me in good stead to attend the Jamboree in 2027! The Stone Circle races will start and finish in Gargrave, North Yorkshire and will take in some stunning Yorkshire Dales scenery on its route round to the Broughton Stone Circle. a multi-terrain event, it is suitable for runners or long-distance walkers and promises to be a great day out for all involved.

Now all I need is your help to make it happen!!! Whether you’re keen to participate or volunteer, watch this space for further details coming soon…. ☺️
