Congratulations to our members Gav Stocker, Chris Payne, Steve King and Brook Coward who have all been part of the winning team this season.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone behind the scenes who gives their time to organise, support and run the Union — this is a team effort and a fantastic reward for everyone involved

⛳️ HOLE-IN-ONE ALERT! 🚨🏌️‍♀️

What an achievement for Sarah Howes, who carded a fantastic HOLE IN ONE yesterday at the lovely Wilpshire Golf Club during their Mixed Open! 🎉👏

Playing the 15th hole, Sarah pulled out her 6 hybrid and hit an absolute beauty… straight into the hole! 🏌️‍♀️⛳️

And if that wasn’t impressive enough, this comes just weeks after Sarah set a new course record at Skipton Golf Club! 🔥

She is playing some absolutely incredible golf right now! 👏👏

Although, in true Sarah fashion, she couldn’t quite believe it… partly because she couldn’t actually see the ball go in thanks to her dodgy eyesight! 👀🤣🤣

But hey, who needs to see it when you hear that magical sound?! 😍⛳️

Moments like this are exactly why we play golf! ❤️

Huge congratulations, Sarah! 🥳

Course Maintenance Week at Skipton Golf Club ⛳️🌱

It’s still course maintenance week at Skipton Golf Club, and the greens team have been working hard to give our greens some much-needed TLC.

Here’s a look at some of the work taking place:

🔹 Micro-tining – Removing small soil plugs to allow air and water to reach the grass roots. The holes are then filled with sand to improve the soil profile, improve drainage and help prevent surface water.

🔹 Scarifying – Using spinning steel blades to remove thatch, moss and dead plant material, helping the grass grow healthier and stronger.

🔹 Verticutting – Vertical blades remove lateral grass growth, creating a cleaner, more upright surface and allowing for a better, more consistent mow.

🔹 Top Dressing & Brushing – Sand is spread across the greens and brushed in to smooth the surface, improve drainage and encourage thicker grass growth.

A huge amount of work goes into maintaining and improving our greens, so a massive thank you to Ian and the greens team for all their hard work this week. 👏👏

The greens may look a little different while the work is being carried out, but it’s all part of getting them into the best possible condition for the remainder of the season and into the winter months 💚⛳️

Following continued investment into the clubhouse and hospitality offering, we are looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead and develop our kitchen operation, following the retirement of our current Head Chef.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a well-established food operation serving members, visitors, golf societies, private events, and functions, while helping shape the next stage of the club’s hospitality growth.

⛳️ A fantastic effort from our ladies at the YLCGA Yorkshire Challenge Bowl this week! 🏆

Although the girls didn’t quite manage to bring home any silverware, they certainly did Skipton proud.

Carol, Sarah and Sarah finished as runners-up in the Tri-Am with an excellent score of 85, narrowly missing out after being pipped on the back nine by our fellow HDUGC members from Ilkley Golf Club.

Sophie and Carol then continued the strong showing on Thursday, finishing runners-up in the Greensomes. 👏

Well done to all the ladies for representing Skipton so brilliantly — a great week of golf and a fantastic achievement! 💚⛳️

⛳️ Good luck to our ladies heading to Doncaster Golf Club today for the YLCGA Yorkshire Challenge Bowl! 🏆

Six of our women are taking on the event, starting with a Tri-Am format today before the Greensomes tomorrow.

A special mention goes to Sarah & Sarah, who return as defending Greensomes champions after their fantastic win last year! 👏

Also, congratulations to Sarah Howes, who heads into the event full of confidence after setting a new women’s course record at Skipton yesterday! 🔥⛳️ We hope the form continues!
