We had a great pre-grading with our Chief instructor, Sensei Kevin Lomax (5th Dan). He made us aware about individual details we need to practice, to reach that next level.

Not long until grading which will be in November, so let's train to go up in the ranks!

See you all next Friday at 6.30pm in St Clements Church Hall, we will progressively practice on all of the points he mentioned.

Let's keep grinding, remember, progression, not perfection!

Just a quick note to all of our members, Sensei Kevin Lomax will visit us on Friday the 30th of August at our usual training place and time - 6.30pm in St Clement's Church Hall.

If you can get there, be there, it is always great training session with our Chief Instructor.

In the meantime, have a great week and see you next week on Friday as always. :)

For all those who are new to learning karate, there are principles of practice known as Dojo-Kun, that we must abide by to show respect to the art and old masters before us.

Often people see learning karate or any martial art as a way to 'kick-ass', but in reality, refraining from a fight if possible, is the highest skill and perfection of a character in order to not cause any legal or personal problems to yourself or anybody else.

It is wise to remember, that in the eyes of the law, if you know any martial art, you are the highest danger, not the opponent who does not know anything. So always refrain from a fight if possible and if not, use your techniques such as locks or takedowns to finish the fight as quickly and as safely as possible. Additionally, if there are weapons involved, leave your ego behind and run/escape if possible, if not, use anything that you can from your environment to distract the attacker and escape. Be wise, not bold. Those were the teachings of old masters after the war ended.

Let's train to be a better person than we were yesterday and seek that perfection of our character.
