Here’s the lowdown from a five-year-old’s perspective on what Cobbydale Kickers is all about ⚽
Each week, we repeat some of the games from the previous session to help build confidence and familiarity. We then introduce either a small adaptation or a brand-new game, slowly and naturally bringing in football skills along the way.
And yes — it’s completely OK if they pick the ball up with their hands! At some point, they’ll realise for themselves that using their feet is the quicker and more efficient option. Right now, it’s all about having fun, getting involved, building confidence, and increasing those step counts… for the parents too 👀😂
As the boys and girls become more comfortable, parents naturally begin stepping back a little more during the sessions… before inevitably joining back in for the fun (we will be adding some sneaky fitness in the next block !).
We’re off next week for the school holidays, but we’ll be back for another seven-week block on Thursday evenings down at Silsden Football Club.
It’s a brilliant way to get outside, get active, and spend quality time moving with your child. Football — and multi-skills in general — is such a fantastic tool for building confidence and helping children understand that fitness is a lifestyle habit they can carry with them forever.
