Last Sunday we took some time out from training to celebrate a year of ValleyActiv.
It was lovely to have so many of our clients come along chat and enjoy some great food and each other’s company.

Thank you to everyone who came along and to everyone who has supported ValleyActiv over the past 12 months.
It looks like these socials are set to continue so keep an eye out for the next one over the summer (whispers of a school sports day themed BBQ 😬)

A huge thank you to everyone at The Loft for looking after us, the food was incredible and a lovely welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
Highly recommended if you’re looking to organise a party or just stop by for some top level food.

🎉🎉🥳 1 Year Anniversary Of ValleyActiv 🥳🎉🎉

This week has marked 1 whole year since I opened ValleyActiv!

It’s been a crazy year and I wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has supported ValleyActiv over the past 12 months.

Whether you’ve been to 1 session or over a hundred (as our original members have), or if you supported with advice, well wishes, sharing a post on social media or mentioning us to a friend, I want to say a huge thank you. Without the above this is essentially me and and a dig hanging out in a gym!

Here’s to another incredible 12 months and beyond.

Had the pleasure of coaching this legend today 💪

Jan is one of a small number of 1:1 clients I coach at ValleyActiv. Many of these clients have more specific needs that are better catered for in a small private environment

He’s been with me for about 4 months and is a pleasure to have in the gym. His energy and sense of humour is incredible, he never fails to make me laugh

He loves a biceps 💪 curl and flexing those guns whenever he can. His second favourite thing is hitting me (hard) in our boxing pad work sessions 🥊

He cheats whenever we do little challenges or games, I’ve not yet won any against him but my time will come as I think I’ve sussed out his distraction techniques!

I’m teaching him the gym basics, he’s teaching me to count in Turkish 🇹🇷

It was great to see him get a new PB on his bench press today, his reaction and pride in showing his brother the footage was so cool.

My phone is full of his training videos as he loves to watch his sessions as we go, it’s great for me to see that progress

Well done Jan, loads more PB’s to come 💪

SMALL GROUP PT WRAPPED

Come and join us for a quick fire session, normally 1 hour, all wrapped up in 1 minute 🏋️🏋️‍♀️💪

Our sessions all follow a similar structure, making sure nothing is forgotten or left to chance . Members soon learn the basic layout taking away the anxiety and unknown associated with getting started in gym. All sessions are tailored to allow for individual ability, fitness level and injury history making sure your session suits you!

Sessions are broken down into blocks, each one focusing on a different element of fitness

Block A - Warm up and mobility - making sure muscles and joints are prepped and ready for the upcoming session

Block B - Strength and power - here we look at developing strength in our major muscle groups and making sure we are able to express this strength quickly when needed (power)

Block C - Muscular endurance and hypertrophy - making sure the muscles are able perform movements repeatedly without fatigue whilst building some lean muscle mass

Block D - Aerobic conditioning or body part focus - here our members chose how they finish the session either focusing on building some aerobic fitness with short, scalable cardio challenges or targeting a particular area of the body with circuits designed to improve a specific body area or muscle group.

Block E - Cool down and steady, static stretching to ease members out if their session so they are ready to hit the rest of their day with energy and focus

💪 Movement Monday 💪

Single Arm Landmine Row

Currently part of our program for Small Group PT.
These are an excellent variation of a pressing moment. The change in angle from directly overhead, as you would see in a traditional shoulder press, makes these a great tool for those with shoulder issues or restricted ranges of movement in that area. Even if you press overhead without any issues they are a great tool to have at your disposal.

Seen here primarily being performed in a half kneeling position, this variation is particularly challenging as it involves activation of the core and glutes to stabilise and takes away the ability of the legs to give any major assistance.

👋 Introducing some of our Friday morning group members

6 am - These early risers are up getting their sessions in before work, school run or family morning chaos ensues. Home, showered , breakfast and feeling of smugness all before 8am!

7am - Not quite as early but still before breakfast! Making sure they get their work out done in time for work (or a coffee and walk along the seafront)

9:30am - school run done and childcare sorted or enjoying a later morning start as part of well deserved retirement, these guys are putting in the work mid morning

💪 MOVEMENT MONDAY - INVERTED ROWS 💪

Today’s video shows some of our incredible clients performing variations of inverted rows.

These are a great addition to your training program.
Primarily targeting the big muscles of the back with the secondary movers being the arms (biceps 💪). Due to the near plank position these are being held in we are also hitting the core and glutes making it an all round great exercise

These can be regressed and progressed in various ways meaning that they are both challenging and accessible.
