Season V - Round 5: Nearly another full house with 34 bowlers on show. Alec Pendrill re-appeared from nowhere after a 2 season hiatus, while we also welcomed Louisa Jayne Turner for her first qualifying round.
Scratch: 3rd in the queue this week saw Reginald Barnes continue his great form and shooting 529 with all games above his league average. John Plumridge backed up last weeks win with a 2nd place finish on 547 but way out in front was Paul Williams on 630. All 3 of Paul's games were over the 200 barrier - 202, 221 & 207.
Handicap: With a fine scratch set in the bag, Paul Williams had no problem claiming the clean sweep with a monster 783 handicap total - nearly 100 pins ahead of anyone else in what was a tight field. Positions 2-22 were separated by a mere 60 pins to put things into perspective. 2nd up was June Johnson on 689 with a 156 game in between a pair of 142's. She just pipped Andrew Evans by a solitary pin, who bowled 144, 180 & 157 to total 688 and finish 3rd.
Strikes & Spares: That chap again i'm afraid - step up Paul Williams with a total of 18 to top the strikes chart this week, 4 ahead of plums. The spares table was a much tighter showing - Mark Youngs snatching bragging rights with 16 spare conversions, just pipping Elizabeth Bosson and Kerry Sirrell who tied on 15 a piece.
Roll-Off: There's always plenty of action on the lanes when there's money is up for grabs and this week was no different. 21 fancied their chances and front running favourites were dropping like flies. Big cheers all round as Anne Waddington & Jordan McCabe dispatched Paul Williams & Darren Milner at the first hurdle, while 2nd seed June Johnson also had an early bath thanks to Luke Harris. At the semi-final stage we still had 3rd seed Laura Evans, James Alastair Nathaniel Larkin (9), Robert Spinks-Chilman (12) and Luke Harris (18) left in the mix. RSC made it 2 wins in 3 weeks by dispatching Laura Evans in the final.
Bonus Ball: A rollover last week bumped the prize pot up a touch for this weeks draw. #38 was ball of choice and handed Sarah Elizabeth Jeeves approx £50 notes but our beloved treasurer Kate Brown will have to confirm final amount.
Hangings: An absolute feast full of stupid troll hat wearing pictures flying about but the biggest cheer was saved for John Plumridge getting a rare embarrassing moment. Think James Watson had 4 or 5 alongside June Johnson and Gareth Jonah Jones who were up a similar amount of times. Just to add some extra spice, we've got a delightful extra item in the form of a furry pink dog collar for next week.
Website is all up to date as norm and next weeks event is sold out already. If anyone has a change of heart and can't play, please let us know ASAP so we can give those unfortunate to miss out a chance to get back in.
Finally thanks to all that have paid fines & memberships up to date, we will be submitting these to the BTBA next week just in time for our Shropshire Tenpin Bowling Association county trials which take place on Thursday 17th/Sunday 20th November.
