If you’ve ever hovered over the 'message' button, because you want to try Pregnancy or Postnatal Yoga, but you’re worried that you’re not flexible, confident or fit enough for it... this is for you.

❎ You don’t need to be able to touch your toes
❎ You don’t need to be an experienced yogini
❎ You don't need to have had a completely uncomplicated pregnancy
❎ You don’t need to have a perfectly settled baby

These classes are designed for real life, real bodies and real mums.

Whether you’re pregnant and looking for gentle movement and connection, or postnatal with a baby who might need feeding, cuddling or a full on protest halfway through you... are welcome here 💗

Yoga at The Relaxed Mama Club is not about getting the poses right, it’s about feeling supported, moving in a way that feels good, and having a little space that is just for you 🙏

If you’re unsure whether a class is right for you, send me a message. I’m always happy to chat it through.

❎ Monday Myth: A Caesarean is the 'easy way out'

Let’s leave this one behind, shall we?

A Caesarean can be planned, unplanned, or an emergency. It can bring relief, disappointment, fear, gratitude, grief... or a mixture of all of them.

But it is never the easy way out

It’s birth. It’s major surgery. It’s recovering from said major surgery while caring for a newborn. And for many mums, it’s also an experience that takes time and space to process.

Calling a Caesarean 'easy' dismisses both the physical reality and the emotional weight it can carry. It can leave mums feeling as though they need to justify their birth, their body or their motherhood.

You do not.

However your baby arrived, you gave birth. Your experience matters. And your feelings about it are valid.

Save this for a Mum who may need the reminder today 💗

The Cascade of Intervention is often discussed as though it’s either an inevitable domino effect, or a made up phrase that's designed to frighten women.

I think the reality is a bit more nuanced than that.

A newly published Australian study examined more than 1.3 million births in New South Wales. Researchers looked at a specific sequence: induction, then epidural, then either instrumental birth or Caesarian.

They found that this cascade increased from 2004 to 2018, with the rise concentrated amongst low-risk first time mothers.

Much of that increase was associated with changing hospital practice styles, rather than changes in women’s characteristics such as age or BMI. That matters because our birth pathways are not shaped by our bodies alone. They can also be influenced by the culture, routines and protocols in the place providing our care.

This is not about calling interventions 'bad'. And it’s not about blaming women for their choices. It’s about having enough information to make decisions with your eyes open.

You can ask:

- what are the benefits for me and my baby?
- what are the risks?
- What alternatives do we have?
- What could this change about the rest of my labour?
- Is it urgent or do we have time to talk?
