Shotts Bon Accord walking football

What a busy Weekend we had, on Saturday we held our first extra time session ( more about that on another post later )

On Sunday we were invited by the Motherwell Phoenix 🐦‍🔥 lads for a friendly, always a great test against these guys who are pushing for league glory in the division above us. This being our first league season we are happy to play the big boys to see where we stand.

We travelled with a squad of 11 which consisted of 3 new guys, 2 of which making their 6 a side format debuts, added into that we took a second goalkeeper in his 70s 💪 overall a good test for the new guys and I've gotta say they done really well. Three matches played finished as follows.

0-1 loss
1-0 win

Tonight training is in Harthill 7pm to 9pm and as always we encourage anyone looking to join to come along, you might fancy the competitive leagues etc, if so we are the club for you. You might just fancy getting fit at training and the social element without the competitive leagues, then again we are the club for you. Currently putting together multiple sides gearing towards next season at 50s & 60s level so never a better time to get involved.

Tomorrow morning we put on our first Walking Football extra time!! This is aimed at getting adults aged 40+ off the couch for a little exercise, nothing too strenuous. All details are in the photos and the best bit about it is it's completely FREE!!! Added to that we have free refreshments in the Station Hotel straight after

All abilities most welcome ⚽
Your never too old as we have guys in their 70s still playing.

Come along and support these funded sessions & bring some feel good factor back to yourself.

These sessions can also be a pathway to those that want to come along to our Monday evening 2hr sessions.

This Saturday 10.30am the changing rooms open. Calderhead high school indoors so you won't even get soaked by our lovely weather.

Next Saturday 29th is our first " EXTRA TIME FOR ME " sessions that we are putting on to encourage new recruits into our walking football club.

1hr of free football followed by 1hr of free refreshments in the Station Hotel.

I have attached all the dates this is on if you fancy trying it out. What else are you doing on a Saturday morning, come get a bit of fitness.

Everyone is most welcome we would love to meet new friends and encourage old friends to come along also.

18 hardy men out playing tonight in terrible conditions, 2 hours of non stop rain. Shotts WF don't let the rain waste our sessions.

Next Monday we train at Wishaw Sports Centre 5G park 7pm to 9pm outdoors no matter the weather as hard floor indoor halls aren't for big clubs.

Just a quick message to say our football is now at Harthill 5g this week, we did think we were getting back to Calderhead but they are having issues finishing the pitch.

On Sunday 8th August both Shotts teams 1 & 2 were back for round 3 of league action. In round 2 back in April the overall feeling was of disappointment so we had to try make amends. The results are as follows.

We have had to use an old picture due to our negligence, we forgot to take team photos in amongst our excitement 😂

Another great turnout at Newmains last night, we have over 30 registered players and rarely under 20 lads at every training session. We had 21 players along last night & hopefully everyone enjoyed the mix of drills, games and of course the dreaded warm up. One new player added aswell and the feedback from him was he loved it, he was made to feel welcome by all as it should be.

Next Monday we return to Calderhead High in Shotts 7pm to 9pm.

Walking football on tonight at Newmains & St Brigid's Community Hub 7-9pm

This is our last week before we return to Calderhead High, where a newly laid pitch awaits us.

Come along and join the fastest growing club in the area. We don't just invite guys from the local Shotts area, we openly encourage guys from all wider communities to come and share the joy of Walking Football ⚽
